Nike wanted out of hockey because they've lost more and more money each year. That's because stupid basketballers at Nike don't get hockey and its market.
I just hope the same happens to the stupid-ass RBK idiots...
When they bought Bauer in the 90's, Bauer was THE brand the sport. See where Check-mark sneaker company lead them...
They're keeping the NBH logo on the products that are already in production. As soon as the new models come out (for ex. the new X60), there will be only B logo on. By 2010, there won't be anymore Check-mark crap anywhere in hockey. Yay!
i don't think it's nike that doesn't understand hockey. they've actually done a lot for hockey and their gear is still (just like before they bought bauer) good. but yeah their experiment didn't go too well and they weren't making what they expected when they first entered the market.
i hated nike when they first came in but they weren't actually that bad at all.
Hockey Monkey > Hockey Giant
Im a whore for Bauer gear, ill admit. Extremely comfortable and durable gear and having multiple series really makes it nice on the budget if need be since they have something in every price range.
However if warrior made more then sticks, gloves, and inappropriatly named cups/jocks id be all over that in a second.
Thanks for everyone's very helpful input. I will be making a stop at Hockey Monkey on my way home from Las Vegas after this latest run of shows ends on the 10th. Is there a specific salesperson there any of you guys would recommend? I really appreciate all the good advice and I am getting very psyched about skating again.
Look for the oldest guy there. They seemed to have hired a lot of high school guys there lately. While they probably know their stuff, I like dealing with the older guys. I don't mean to discriminate based on age, but I seem to have better experiences when I deal with some of the guys that have been working there for a while. But sometimes when it's crowded there, you don't have a choice.

Got my new skates today. I went to Hockey Monkey first but they only had 11 1/2s in very expensive models. So I stopped at Hockey Giant on the way home and they were having a 30% off sale on Nike/Bauer Vapors. With the discount I could afford a beautiful pair of Vapor XXVs and I am very pleased. Thanks again to everyone for the great advice. Happy Holidays!!!
