Hey guys (and gals),
I just moved to the area from the east coast and looking to play some hockey. What is the level of these pickup games? I don't have my equipment but maybe I will be able to hop in the next one. Also, does anyone play in any of the leagues at the Toyota Sports Center? How are those?
Thanks!

First post is in the Players forum? Nice.
The skill level at the LGK pickups range from guys who are skating for the first time (though that doesn't happen too often), to guys who play Gold. Everyone's pretty cool about not just taking the puck from the newbies and letting them skate for a bit or get a shot/pass off. That's not to say there's no competition between players, it's just (generally) a more relaxed, fun thing. Although don't touch Howard or he may choke you.
LGK pickups happen monthly-ish, and tend to get a better crowd than any of the adult league games I've seen. A good time had by all.
TSC has a wide variety of skill levels. I'm still in my first season (actually, 3/4 of a season) so I can't speak much for the leage itself, but the ice is usually good, you just gotta pay for it. It tends to be the favorite of most I know, all at the low low price of "Holy **** I paid that much??"
Sorry, I guess I got spoiled by roller leagues.
Anyways, other cities with leagues in the area include Pasadena, Culver City, Lakewood, and Harbor Gateway. You have plenty of options, just look into whtever works for you. Welcome to the West

Thanks for the response guys, I've been playing hockey since I was little, but I don't consider myself a ringer or anything. I played high school hockey but not college, and I'm not nearly in the same shape as I was then. I'd be OK with playing in a scrimmage with people of all levels, just looking forward to getting back on the ice and having some fun. What's the Gold division like? College level players or lower?
I figured he was a ringer when he said he played when he was a kid. Most of us got into it past the age of 25.
Mr. Tabbs, you'll fit in just fine. In fact, I think we may have a new team captain.
Now that Mitchrock is no longer around, team Primate needs some direction. What say ye LGK folk?
