Thread: getting back into it.

i grew up playing goal, but havent played in quite some time. I'm making the return to ice, as a skater this time. Probably gonna start out in a no-contact adult league with my brother and some buddies. i just bought some vapor XIX's off of ebay. does anybody have any advice what type of equipment i should start buying. Obviously i would love to have all top of the line stuff, but i am graduating college soon so i = poor. And if i'm just playing non-check i probably wont need crazy protective stuff. thanks for any info.

also, any good shop recommendations in the ie/oc would be great. Websites would be cool too, i've browsed hockeygiant, hockeymonkey, etc... thanks again.

I played out for a couple of seasons and I eBay'd all the gear I got, minus the skates. Well, I got my stick from Play it Again on a trip out to SoCal (Kansas City is void of them). First get back on skates and get your ice legs back. However, if you would like, I can put my gear on e-bay (on the cheap) for you and we can figure out prices before I post them "buy it now" so that we can ensure you get them. Let me know. I've got a helmet that I got new (off of ebay) with a full cage that I only used for one season (I can send it with a brand new half shield too). Everything else if basically used, but I haven't worn it for 2 years now as I have been back in net. Let me know.

how long does it take you guys to get your skate legs back? Mine went away and they don't wanna come back!

Well, I didn't follow my own advice and just jumped back into it. It took me the better part of a 3 month season. Then I said screw it and went back to net.

I think this is the part where I acknowledge that my 36th birthday is around the corner, my knees are truly shot and my 'hockey career' may be over.
