Default Goalie Equipment need links or?

My 6 year old decided he wanted to play goalie last week for his in house team. He actually did very well. He has all the gear but we decided to get him a helmet since he wants to play goalie at least once a week. I have found the new Itech solid black ones online and a few with cool designs for about 150. I was wondering if anyone had any good links to sites with inexpensive masks.

We are leaning towards this unless we can find something nicer or less expensive:

Props to Hockey Giant Mgr. My son has leg pads, chest protector, glove & blocker that was GIVEN to him by the manager or HG a year ago. I was his kids stuff that was used twice.

    NOTE: YES, he is spoiled.

    Thanks in advance,
    -Brian

The ITECH masks are a good choice. If there's any piece of protection you don't want to skimp on, it's the goalie mask. $150 doesn't sound bad. Be glad he's not a teenager needing adult sizes. It'd be at least $100 more for the cheapest of good masks.

Spend the money and buy a good cup too. Your future generations will thank you.

As long as the kids he's playing against can't raise the puck or get it going with some zip, a mask like that should be fine. The moment he starts facing serious slap shots is when you'll need to upgrade to something more protective. As far as kids gear goes, I'd recommend getting whatever you can used. No sense it buying all new equipment when he'll be growing out of it in a couple years or less (the mask is an exception to this. I think you should always get a brand new mask. No telling what kind of history a used one has).

Tell him welcome to the club, and most importantly, have fun!!!

His travel team can shoot the puck pretty hard but no hard slappers YET. This is his in house team that is a mixture of mites & squirts. I only know of one kid that make my kid standing next to him look like K&T standing next to TONGA. several of them can lift the puck pretty good.

Like I said, he's got all the gear except for the helmet. I am not much for used equipment. been there, done that and it kinda grosses me out having my kid in something someone else sweated, spit & maybe bleed in before. or worse. ewwwww

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. So far the best place I have found is goalie monkey.

    Karma for all of you.

p.s. Jets, got the sac protector already. only one good thing will ever come out of being hit in the junk. SWELLING

I was just about to say the same thing. I've never played goalie, always been a winger, but if I did I'd make sure to have the hanging clear throat protector.

I hate my hangy down clear throat guard, but it beats the alternatives of either a puck/blade to the throat or those stupid collar things that make you feel like you're being choked the whole game.

Throat / neck guard will be a must.

Although his grandma would prefer to have this in front of him instead.
