I know I've been away from the game for quite sometime, but I've noticed lots of stuff isn't even prooduced in N. america anymore. China now?????
    Oy!!
I liked the Vaughn c/a stuff too but it was priced out of this kids' budget. Perhaps in the next life.

I prefer Cateye myself. If there was only a choice between the Beezer style and the pictured certified Cat's, I'd opt for the Beezer. The vertical bars in front of the eyes just don't look right.

If you want quality goalie equipment, made in Canada at a decent price you have to go to the smaller manufacturers, like Don Simmons or Battram or Smith.

Don Simmons Sports Inc. - - Ice Hockey Goalie Equipment Sales Specialists and manufacturing. All our equipment is handcrafted in Canada. We only sell the latest Professional Series of ice hockey goaltending equipment from manufacturers such as RBK, C

    Battram Custom Goal Equipment

    Smith Hockey > Home

I have 2 sets of Simmons gear and in about a month or so I am going to order another 2 sets. Great gear at a great price with great service.

You certainly can't go wrong with Reebock or Bauer gear as far as a protection level, but most importantly is to try everything on and find what is most comfortable and suited to your game.

I've heard that some goalies actually play aggressively and like to skate out of the net to take on players (especially with thier heads down) so the equipment needs to be suited for that style of play. It gets difficult switching between ice/roller and back when I did that often, I actually had a different set of gear for each as the weight/protection isn't the same requirement and subtle differences in setup are required for each (for me and my style of play).
