Default How many of you have ever actually played ice hockey?

When you personally are in a slump all you can do is play your way out of it.
Don't glide down the ice-skate hard always.
Leave everything you have on the ice and expect the same from your teammates.
Go after every puck yourself, don't expect your line mate to get it.
Communicate with everyone on your team.
Take the body everytime you can.
Block pucks, finish passes, encourage each other.
Make your opponent wish they weren't playing you.
    Practice, practice and practice more.
Define your goals and what you have to do to accomplish them individually and as a team.
Remember what skills got you to this level and use them!
Repeat this every game and eventually the slump will be over.

Or you can stop thinking about it, that usually just works as well, at least for me, but then again goal tending is truly a mental game.

And yeah. I play. Horribly, but I play. My whole hockey career has been a slump. Its fun as hell though.

To be fair... the Thread Title was condescending and the post itself wasn't really seeking a sincere response.

The difference is you don't do it for a living and get paid millions to do it.
The effort or lack of it costs people their jobs like TM, who is a good guy, but that didn't equal wins.
I love playing hockey too and I take it more seriously than some of the Kings do I'm afraid.
What ever happened to giving your best effort and earning your paycheck?
    That's all I'm saying.

It was a sincere question, not meant to be condescending at all.
Just wandering the point of view from people on the blog.
I'm sorry if it seemed that way.
I know most people have played: football, baseball or basketball at some point, but hockey isn't played as much, especially here in CA.
