Generally people don't take slapshots in pick-up, but that doesn't mean a puck wont travel at a high velocity. That's a bummer about your shins only having one strap. I have two different pairs of shins, one are much older and the elastic on the straps are pretty blown out, so I tape them. My other pair has two sets of straps. An internal one with a high and low tab and then the external panel that wraps around the calf to tighten it all up, I also tape those.
I guess my point is that everyone does things a little different from each other. Most of us have different gear and we all have different body shapes, so what method that works for one person may not work for another.

Not sure what pickups you play in but slapshots are pretty routine. Granted, they are outnumbered by wristers 2 or 3 to 1, but some guys love to crank it.

Yeah but when the slappers come at 3mph, can you really consider it a slapper ?
