I've been on the winning and losing end of a lopsided game (as I'm sure all of you have) and there is just nothing like the heart pounding fight to the finish of a close match. We should shoot for that.

Here's an idea:

Two captains (of equal caliber ability) assemble two teams, without knowing which one will be theirs (assures fairness). Then they draw straws to see which is their team.

Then we all chant "we get what we get and we don't throw a fit" three times and....go! beers start pouring, mid air collisions begin..

It wasn't until the game was underway that I realized the extent of how lopsided it was.

Don't be offended if you think you're a stud player and I left you out.

It most likely would have been fairly even with Muddy on the other team or w/ Moto in goal for the other team or switching goalies after the first half.

This was my first thought, but prior to the last two blowouts we actually had 2 or 3 really competitive games, a couple of which ended up tied and were a lot more fun for everybody (I think). Balanced teams is definitely the way to go because you get a much more two-way game.

A thought that just crossed my mind is what they do in recreational tennis... What about some kind of self-rating system? We each rate ourselves on a scale of 1-5 and balance out the teams that way. :think:

Sorry SJW, but this isn't elementary school where everybody's a winner!
We gotta have something to play for.

Even out the sides and make it as competitive as possible.
Heck, we should even have some kind of prize to the winning team.

Losing team buys the winning team eats afterwards, whatever, something.

I'm not complaining, win some games and lose some games and eat some awesome burgers afterwards.
