i can also bring at least 1 extra skater
i'm in as long as it's at night, i've got class starting on the 20th monday through friday in the morning till like 3:30
What date/time are people thinking?
I was thinking about playing, and then I read this.
The game's been a ton of fun in the past, and this sort of mandate, in my mind, isnt necessary and in my lengthy hockey history, has usually proven to stem from people who have something to prove. Im passing.
And if you think Im one to shy away from contact, Daxx knows what's up. we've played enough together.
ooh...i didn't see that sunday thing in the original post. maybe i missed it. last LGK game i played was on a friday night so i was hoping for that. if it's a sunday, i'll be down if i don't have a game at the same time. i'll change my vote to a maybe now. sorry about that.
edit: i forgot to mention our new league is starting in a few weeks so i won't know the schedule until closer to august. i'll have a for sure answer by then.
Like I said, I really have no care to put guys into the boards or into the glass in a meaningless pickup game. However, I've never really enjoyed myself playing games where even putting your hands on a guy is considered "rough". It's just not my style to play like that other than in practice drills. So, like I said - if we're allowed to bump and touch, I'm in. If we're not, I'm not because it's just not as fun to me. Anything without any physical "touch" is basically running drills, IMO. No big deal to me either way.
I think both of you need to re-read my original post. I don't know where tough guy and "throwing the body" came from but if it's going to be like that then I have no problem just cancelling.
You know, there's a difference between being allowed to USE the body to battle for pucks as opposed to using pure stick. IMO, using all stick and no body is much more dangerous and I've seen that. I'll stress again, I don't really care to play contact hockey, but I'd rather not play run-of-the-mill euro-style pick-up either. I like to actually play the game.
Take for example, if someone stands in the slot. Is he not supposed to be moved? How the hell else would he be? "Excuse me, you're in the goalie's way". I'm not saying I'd Dustin Brown his ass out of the way, but I would stand next to him and press myself against him and try and move him - by no means using excessive force. Now, if you interpret THAT as excessive force - count me out, ....... tough guy!

See by what I was reading from your post it sounded like ya wanted to Bertuzzi everyone on the ice...my bad. Yeah there is some contact etc in battling for the puck, then there is "that guy" who thinks a pick up game is game 7 of the cup finals and it is tied going into triple OT...and we have all experienced those types before.
So my bad for the confusion
I understand that there is a difference between playing tight against someone and playing rough. The problem is that the tolerance level is different for everyone. And some peple who play in the pick ups are at a beginners level. So giving them a big shove in front of the net might get a different reaction than from me or someone else.
My point is that we all want to go have some fun and blow off me steam. Let's not get our egos or fists involved.
And don't worry about the contact thing. Games in the past have had mild contact (like natural is seaking of), but we have also had the other extreme. It doesn't sound as if that is up Natural's alley either.
Lets figure where and when to have this thing so I can plan it.
D!
