Never Played on Ice...
I've never played a game of hockey on ice, but I'd love to give it a shot when I'm done with school this spring... are there any real novice leagues out there that are for beginners, but still semi-competitive?
I'm athletic, not out of shape or anything. I used to play roller hockey on a not-so-regular basis and can skate okay (not too well backwards tho... no: ) Oh and no pond hockey, I need the walls to stop. : |
I live in Northridge... any chance of finding a league that would put up with me? :hockey1:

There's a beginner league at the Valley Skating Center in Panorama City. Whether or not you qualify as a 'beginner' is up for them to decide I guess.

Call Player Misconduct ;)

There is a fairly novice and cheap league at Ice Chalet in Palos Verdes. It is 3 on 3 but you can get a sense for positioning and develop some skating

You need to learn how to skate well before you can play in any league.

I want to play 3 on 3 so bad. Not offered anywhere around here.

Come join me and the Thunder Cats at Ice Chalet. We only have 6 players on our team, and 3 have never played in a league before

Thanks for the replies (and the link to the other thread). I'm definitely planning to brush up my skating skills before getting into anything competitive, but I may not be quite as bad as my original post suggests :)
Anybody familiar with Panorama City? How is there ice? When is the stick time? etc. Can't find much on the website... might just stop by there sometime.
Thanks

The beginner league plays on the small rink there, so the rink itself is approx. 3/4 the size of an NHL rink is. The rink itself is a nice facility. Of the rinks I know of in the Valley, it's right up there with Pickwick in Burbank.
As far as public stick times go, probably just give them a call or stop by. If you're in Northridge you're not far away.
