Novice level pickup games (ice)?
Does anyone know if there are any pickup games around that cater to the hockey-loving but athletically-challenged types? I just want to have fun and not annoy the people who are actually good at things like skating and passing. Suggestions?

Me too. Can't really stop, skate backwords, or shoot the puck more than 2mph without falling.

The LGK pick up games are the perfect for you guys and gals. All levels are welcome and it's very fun time.

I actually play kinda far away, but I will try to come to one of the LGK games if the timing works out.
In addition to that, I was hoping someone might know about some regularly (weekly?) scheduled novice-level pickup games around town.

best bet is to go to the local ice rink and ask if they offer any starter programs which they will have. Then you should be right on your way. Also dont be afraid of joining any ice time that is avalible to you because there is allways someone that is just like that.

Sir JW and PTDP beat me to it. keller09 is also right. Hit up a stick time. There you can practice some of your skills and even get some good tidbits.
I picked up a tip from a dude on stopping and PTDP helped me on my slapshot at stick time and my nephew practices his backskating and backhand and wrister at sticktime. It can be really fun.
