I use a padded shirt for roller, and I like it. So much so that I may start wearing it for ice games. I like the idea of adding the pads to the shoulders. My ice shoulder pads ride up weird and don't really do that much for my midnight beer games.

I liked mine up until a guy who had no business in the division he was in (too low a skill for it) realized at the last second he was getting beaten to the puck and did what most newbies do, took my feet out. 2 surgeries on my left shoulder and 18 months later, it's almost back to 90% of what it was before. Not to say I still wouldn't have gotten hurt, but it would have been no where near the disaster it was. I know I'll never go out without shoulder pads again, even for pickup.
Just know who you're playing with, those shirts are fine, but they're no substitute for a decent set of pads
