Thread: Pickup sunday nights 10:45 pm Culver city

Had a great time last night, thanks guys! I have a couple other friends who (like myself) started playing again after an 18-year hiatus, I think they will be down for Sunday nights.

If anyone is on the fence about coming, the core group of guys are very cool. Nobody is going to yell at you if you are not the best skater, or you whiff on a one-timer.

Went and played this Sunday evening. Unfortionately i heard a tragic story about Bernie from this guy Doc who now runs it. Apparantly a few weeks ago Bernie was public skating, tripped and hit his head and got an embalism and passed. Doc was saying how Bernie had been running this pickup every sunday for 42 years and played pretty much reguarly. Sounds like he was a well liked guy.

Yeah I know John and his son Jake and they are both good guys. John has been accommodating setting up his pick ups and helping people find spots on teams

Oh, jeez. RIP, Bernie. I only met him once, but he seemed like a super nice guy. That's really a shame.

I never did get to play the Sunday night pick up. I'm in the Sunday evening class, and the whole playing twice in one night thing seems a little nuts to me. One of these days, maybe I'll come by.

I am all the way up in the High Desert and am really itching to get into some Ice Hockey stuff. player roller a few years back when i was 16 or 17. Anyone have a good estimate on how much all the equipment costs and such?

Is this still happening? Will people be playing tonight? My class isn't in session today, so I thought I might find a pickup game before the holiday break.

Im debating on heading out there tonight.

I'm so not in game shape, so I'm going to be a pylon out there if I show up. Whee.

You wont be the only one, its not a high talent pickup. Hell theres even an 80 year old guy skating out there.
