Thread: Pre-Frozen Fury LGK Pickup game?

S-Hart suggested in the Frozen Fury thread (probably jokingly) holding a pick up game while we're all in Vegas that weekend. I'm the jackass who took it seriously and thought it was a great idea.

The logistics could be kindda hard, lugging all our stuff out there, particularly for those of us flying ($$$). And timing would have to be of the essence in order to interfere with the liquid intake as little as possible. But I'm a hockey nut and don't mind lessening my partying (or just sucking it up and fighting through its after effects) for a little ice time. I think its a given that were all gonna feel like crap, not be 100% but I think it'd be a really fun kick off event for the FF weekend, and it'd also be a cool way to get a bunch of LGKers together to make and break plans.

I'm going in on thursday 9/30, not sure how many other people are, but thursday night would be ideal for obvious reasons. Otherwise it'd have to be friday mid day, saturday morning/midday (I'm lol'ing at this myself but I've played hockey with a hangover many a time), or Sunday same time frame as saturday (equally lol'able). Ultimatley this would only be a 2 hour-ish interruption of the debauchery (and who says it even needs to stop just cause we're playing hockey).

I'm up for it. Any one else up for it? And further more, is anyone knowledgable as far as rinks in the Vegas area? I'm willing to take the lead in setting this up but since we have quite a bit of time, I just wanna gague interest and then if it seems do-able and we can get some commitments I'll get it done.

We've tried the last couple of years to get this done with no success. Finding a time slot that everyone can make always seems to be a big issue, as well as finding a rink with available time. I know it's been done before but I wasn't there and don't know what day it was done. Friday night would be the most ideal but most people are going to choose Hofbrauhaus House, myself included. I'm all for it though, but the chances of making this happen are probably slim. One idea that was thrown around at the last pickup game this weekend was doing a local pickup game before people head out to vegas, maybe either Wednesday or Thursday night. Either way I think it's a fun idea for kicking off Frozen Fury weekend.

Depending on where it's played, I'd be very interested.

I know last year part of the issue was a tourney being held in Vegas that weekend so ice time was non-existent.

Okay, I hear you guys, and these were all things I wanted to hear and get feedback on. Like I said, IF we can make it happen, cool beans. Perhaps a local kick off could be held as the back up plan. Lets keep bouncing ideas and see if we can't get something going.

I would be interested. Not sure what my wife will think of driving to Vegas with my gear in the car or having my gear in the hotel room.

In the past, this was done Friday afternoon/evening... around 5 or 6ish for an hour and a half at Crystal Palace. This left plenty of time for after pickup/ pre-FF festivities.
