Rinks closing?

Bump

After following many leads, I still am looking for boards. I am getting very close to moving in to my new house, hoping to get certificate of occupancy by the end of the month. The house is in San Diego County and the rink will be about the same size as a tennis court and used for roller. In order to minimize costs I am going to skip tiles or synthetic ice. New boards are WAY out of my price range.

What kind of surface are you using?

Also, have you thought about building your own? Build Rink Boards. Do it yourself rink boards.

Surface will most likely be epoxy on concrete. I looked in to building my own, but they don't look as clean as the real deal.

My search has been very frustrating as I have found a few parks that were getting rid of theirs and they were more interested in having them demolished than allowing someone to come in and take them down first. Other places wanted close to what they paid when they bought the boards.

Well sadly it appears is though the rink at Bridgepoint plaza in San Mateo up here will not be offered a lease renewal so the property owner can put in more retail space. Long drive but they appear to be hanging on by a thread at the moment.

Sent them an email, hopefully I will have more luck with them then the public parks. I know that one of the parks destroyed a good set of boards, rather than let me go up and take down the boards, because that "was the way the bid was approved."

No offense but I hope the property owner comes around and offers a new lease, all the rinks up here are at full capacity and there's about 450-500 beer leaguers that will be looking for a home. If not it would be a shame to be adding to the dump. It's a shame but that's progress.

no offense taken, it makes me sad to see any rink close. Just hoping to give their boards a new life where they will be appreciated.
