There is a huge difference between an owner who cares and loves the sport of hockey and a owner in it for the money.

it's too bad the one that loves hockey put together the cup team faster and now has Ducks logos plastered all over so cal.

If the Kings do decide to start running a roller rink (I know they read this forum) can I suggest a rink in Downtown LA ? That way, I don't have to drive anywhere.

In the Kings defense, they DO have lots of clinics. The one I like is the one where they teach the young 'uns hockey at the outdoor rink free of charge complete with the full set of gear. It got my nephew and niece into the game. Can they do more ? Sure but they are doing something.

I would actually suggest they bulldoze the houses just to the north of my place and build it there. I'd like that very much. Not only would it be convenient as hell, I'm tired of the neighbors sitting in their hottub and watching me shower.

The Ducks plain and simply have done more to maintain and grow the sport in Southern California than the Kings have. The Ducks have purchased rinks that were in trouble (and a couple that weren't but were not at their best...) and dumped millions into each to upgrade and maintain the facilites. Apparently, you have no idea. Not a diss, you aren't a Ducks fan or a roller guy so you really wouldn't know unless you played at Anaheim Ice or Westminster so...

The-Rinks

Yes, the Ducks (aka Samueli's) are running roller rinks as well as the Ducks home practice rink, Anaheim Ice and soon Westminster. They have dumped millions (literally) into upgrading the buildings and streamlining everything at all three rinks to accomodate demand. They run clinics, junior club teams for both roller and ice, and have speaker series and rink tours at all the rinks more often than the Kings do (2-3 times a season rather than the once).

Right now, I love what the team is doing as far as trying to get the players out there more and building a winner. I am a Kings fan through and through. However, as far as actual development of hockey popularity. team name recognition and access to playing the sport in Southern California the Ducks are kicking the **** out of the Kings.

ahhh interesting - I didn't know that.

Wearing a Ducks jersey pisses me the eff off, but I do it because the Kings don't have anything remotely similar for roller. They're biting off half their fiscal nose despite their face. One of their guys is on the Reebok website wearing the jersey for cryin out loud!!!

Kings are gettin owned in this department for sure.

they do have the rink at TSC, but I refuse to play on it. its like a freaking oven. may as well be a dutch oven with my equipment.
