After 12 years, I'm finally retiring my Bauer 4000's. I am currently looking at these:

and was wondering whether anyone has an opinion on them or on Graf skates in general. Also, can anyone recommend a good place to buy skates (Graf or another brand)?
Where are you located. Believe it or not Team LA @ TSC has great prices for Graf and if you are nice they will add another 10% off. I just got the 703 and I really like them.
From what I know Grafs are pretty stiff skates and they are really good for people with wide feet. I myself go with the vapor series. But try them on then make your choice the worst is going in with skates in mind then realizing that they dont feel good on your feet.
Graf's different models are aimed at different feet size. For example, the 703 model is for narrow heels and medium width forefoot, whereas the G5 you posted is for people with higher insteps and wider feet.
The most important thing is to choose the skate that fits you best, regardless of if it's a Graf, Bauer Vapor, CCM, Easton, etc.
I'd go to Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, speak with the manager Jake. He's pretty knowledgeable and should hook you up.
I do not know what type of fit the Bauer 4000 is, but you should be able to find out a comparable skate by asking the queston on www.modsquadhockey.com

Thanks guys!! I'm in winnetka so it is no problem to go to El Segundo. I'll be there this weekend to check the skates out (not just the Grafs, I'll look at the Bauers too). Karma for all.
I have Graf skates (goalie skates, obviously) and I plan on buying new Grafs when these are done. As far as goal skates go, grafs have the reputation of making the most comfortable skates out there.
Once you go Graf...you never go back...
lies iv seen people run back from Grafs. Also make sure if you are getting new skates to see if the place can match the "rock" of the blade to what you like.Quote:
