All we need is a Super Store in the South Bay, if you are familiar w/ The Ocean Gate Shopping Area in Hawthorne there is an abandoned Circuit City across from the Best Buy just waiting to take this on.

Word is the store will be open for two months and everything is on sale. There are some stick deals. No returns. Right now there is no vendor lined up to do the sharpening and sell tape.
How good is the sale ?
If they can turn the skate rental area (east end in between NHL & OLY rinks) into a constantly-staffed outlet that can at least do ....
1) skate-sharpening
2) tape-&-lace-selling
.... and preferably also do ....
3) minor equipment repair
4) stick selling
.... then this can be work-able.
I know it sounds like a catastrophe, but it's an old-school mindset to think that every rink needs a fully-stocked pro shop. Real equipment purchases are (a) once in a blue moon, and (b) better handled (variety & price) by the megastores in OC and the Valley.
Still, for familiarity & convenience, I will miss it.
Can someone tell me again why Luc Robitaille & his 'people' need to park their asses @ TSC? (&*%$ing Tim Leiweke and his teflon puppet!)

I figure it's all owned by AEG, not matter what shell game they play with names. Not surprising that the pro shop doesn't have the volume of traffic to pay for storing all the equipment collecting dust.
So they either need more office space, or the pro shop wasn't doing it's job as a 'loss leader' (to pull in bodies that would buy something else in the building) and they're better off financially if it becomes general-purpose floorspace (I'll **** if they turn it into a dance studio for the little girl figure skaters).
I don't think AEG owns them.

from what I understand it will not be office space. though I can't imagine that the pro shop would be a good "loss leader" for them at all.
also, looks like they are finally going to convert the roller rink into another ice rink for the kids.

Word is that rink management wants them out, it's not just about paying more rent.
Not sure what will be put in its place, maybe something for Jamie Storr's goalie clinic? (Just a wild guess, I have no idea...)
They will still have sharpenings and tape/laces for sale at the rink, but not much more. A new place might pop up close to TSC, but it would be more of a sharpening, customization and repair shop versus a place with a bunch of equipment for sale off the rack.
I really liked the shop at TSC. Maybe this will be the kick in the ass I need to get my own sharpener...
