Thread: Trying to build a new team at Valencia Ice Station...anyone interested?

Folks, I'm currently on a division 4 team at Ice Station Valencia and I have a few friends that want to join up but we no longer have any roster space. I'm trying to gauge interest from some other puckheads to see if I can get enough people to form a team for the next season which starts in march (I believe). I'd like to get enough people to have at least 2 full lines and d-pairs before commiting to submit the roster to the league. So if you're interested let me know, and ask a friend or two also. I'll start building a list and see where we're at around the middle of february to get it going.

I'm unsure as of what day/time we'll be playing, last season we played sundays and this season we're playing monday nights...I'd imagine it to stay either one of those nights. It is division 4 so there a lot of people who are either new to hockey or (like myself) just getting back into it but there are always a few people on each team that definatley play at a higher level...so if you're a D1/D2 player (meaning you have life long experience in the sport, college/junior experience etc) it might not be for you (i.e. boring).

The other caveat is that ISV is known for being a fairly pricey league, $585 if you pay in full up front, or $610 if you split it into payments (I'm sure some of you are saying hell no at this point). If you haven't played there yet, its a very nice facility. The thing is we can pay as a team ($6000+/-), which is worthwile if we get enough people (15 or so) and could drop the cost down a bit.

Hit me up, lets do this. And I'd be more than down to make our team name the Kings and rep the colors but we'll obviously have that discussion when the time/need arises. Hope to hear from you and feel free to hit me up with any questions and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.

How many games?
How many more bodies are needed?
Did you stop by the Tuesday 10:15 pickup? How would those guys(me) rank?

I would be interested, but as you said, it could be a little below me since I normally play D2 or D3 at the very least.

I'll check but I think it starts end of march/beginning of april. The season is 20 games + playoffs. I have about 5people so far, so I'd like to get at least 7-8 more to start + a goalie. I haven't stopped by the tuesday pickup yet but I could do that tomorrow if you're going to be playing.

Yeah I mean if you're D2 that might be a little bit of a drop, if you're a D3 you'd just be one of the standouts. There are a few people in our league that I would say could play at a D2 level so you wouldn't be the only one.

I have yet to play full time in an adult league.

I played 18AAA for the california heat before college kicked that out of the picture.

I played one game as a filler in the D1 league, and I was a 3rd/4th liner because that was the position that the guy was whom I was subbing for.

I planned on signing up for D2 once a time slot opened up.

I would be interested so long as I can know what nights to be available for games BEFORE committing, but I am a bit worried of sandbagging a lower level league. I have no respect for people that do that, and I certainly wouldn't wanna be one.

No I hear you on the sandbagging thing....I feel the same way. We had to get ourselves one this season just to balance it cause each team in the league has at least one. There's a whole team in our division actually that's been playing together for like 15 years, and you can tell, but they think because they're older guys that its okay to stay down in the D4 league. If you're open to it, you could always come over and check out one of our games and judge for yourself, it definatley sounds like with your background it might be a bit slow for you though.

This season we play monday nights at either 8:45 or 10:15 but last season it was sundays at 7:00 or 8:30. We have a game tonight at 8:45 and then the last 6 of our games will be 10:15 so if you can make it by come check it out.
