Quick note, Shaggy is out and I have not heard back from Fan4Life since the 9th.
So far, 5 players and 1 goalie saying yes pay the deposit. I have a red jersey, but
other may have to buy a Jersey. This not looking good.
Do I still pay the deposit?

Its looking like we'll have to scrap it. As much as I would love all the ice time, I think we'll have to take a pass this time and hope for better on another tourney. Still want to get the jersey though.
I will still wait until 1pm to hear from everyone else, but I think it is in best interest to everyone to scrap this.
i am in, but i don't think its really in our best interest to go thru with it, cuz we don't have enough players... 300 bucks for 4 games... thats 75bucks a game... wow plus jersey and travel and hotel... i don't think it'd be worth it.. whens the next one? maybe if we have more time to set it up we can find more players..
It would have been $300+ for 3 games guaranteed then playoffs if we had made it.
That is fine. We couldn't make it happen.
I am still going to go I think, so if a couple of you guys want to team up, let me know.
I know Im just a random roller chick, but in the future if you guys need an extra hand organizing and stuff, let me know. Ive been through the tournament thing (playing and organizing) so I get how difficult organizing can be.
also, reading through this thread I have the following comments/suggestions:
1. get a group of 25 or so that are on the "tournament" list. They can all be LGKers or teammates or friends of the core group... as long as they stay on the list and commit. Gather everyone's contact information in one database (Name, Address, Home Phone, Cell Phone, Email, Position, Number and Jersey Size just in case... there are tourneys out there in the world that provide jerseys.) If you have the info ahead of time, youre not chasing people down for the simple stuff once they say theyre definitely in and you have to turn in Rosters or whatever. When you pick a tourney, shoot out an email/call to that entire core group first. Not everyone can go everytime, but surely you should be able to muster 8-10 out of 25. If not, then at least you have a good start from jump to then maybe have someone ask another teammate or friend and within a week you should have a full commited roster or it's not worth doing.
2. Once a tournament is entered and youve got your 10 + goalie that are going, organize two - four practices in the month leading up to the tournament. You may have your groups of two or three guys that play consistently together, but that hour or two of sticktime/pick up is where you figure out who does what and what your lines are gonna be.
3. At the same time you schedule your tournament, call local hotels/motels and lock in a group rate for rooms. The more people stay in one place, its easier to track down teammates and its cheaper, too. Just make sure there are no picky divas about threadcounts or location.
4. Pick a cheap jersey (like above) that is easy to find and doesnt look like it will be discontinued. Try to get everyone on the long list to buy that jersey. Use it for random p/u or hold it in the bottom of your hockey bag, if they might play in a tourney, theyre already prepared... or buy a set of 14 for dirt cheap on clearance and let one guy hold/own them. Use those jerseys no matter whos playin and then no one has to worry about matching.
4a. Do not choose: White, Black, Royal Blue or Red. Everyone and their mother uses those team colors and I guarantee you you will play against a team wearing one of those colors at some point, and one of you will have to go to the locker room and dig up a white/dark to change into. This is where having the one guy that owns the jerseys comes in handy. You can get a bunch of sublimated jerseys on the cheap in some random pattern and then you rarely have to worry about that team whos wearing different color blues. The refs see one team that all matches and the other who kinda matches but they all are wearing different company jerseys that are a mish mosh between burgundy and bright red... guess who the ref will make change jerseys no matter what side they sit on?
OK... I'll go now.![]()
