    Default Where to start?

I'm about 19 now, but ever since I was 10 or so I've wanted to play hockey. I was always told that I was too old, even when I was 12 or 13 I was told I was too old by someone in the family and that I shouldn't even bother. Now I deeply regret never jumping in. I'm 19 and I have never played a game on ice, have no clue how to ice skate, but I really want to play. I'm joining the Military, leaving very soon, but I really want to take up hockey as either a recreational thing and hopefully if I'm any good I could go amateur or professional in due time. So what I'm asking is - where should I start?

Go to a proshop and have them fit you for a decent pair of skates.

Dont buy online, actually go in and get sized up.

Once you have a pair of skates, just go out to a public skate to get comfortable with yourself on skates.

    Solid advice.

I'd recommend some lessons to help prevent any bad habits and to get you moving right away. Where are you going to be skating?

Do what I did, come out to the LGK games. The first game I played was an LGK game.Yea I sucked, but no one gave me too hard of a time. Stick with it and you will do well. I started playing when I was 29. You aren't too old.

Thanks. Not sure where I'll be skating, not even sure where I'll be located in 3 months, but I'll make it happen.

Learn to skate like Kim Yu-Na, then once you get a stick in your hands, you're just a few short stick times away from being better than 90% of the players out there.

BTW, kick whoever said not even to bother in the mcfuggin' nuts. As long as you don't have wild dreams of playing pro, you're never too old to start.

Buy some skates, go to public skates at your local rinks, buy as much used protective gear as you can, and hit up the sticktimes at said rink.

    Enjoy the ride!
