Well, I had a fun weekend that pretty much sums up my play...

89 at PGA Legends on Friday afternoon. That damn freezing wind in Beaumont ate me up on the back nine, and I couldn't hit my 60 degree for crap. Every time I judged the wind, I judged it wrong. I came up short or long with virtually every approach shot.

77 at Indian Springs in Indio Saturday morning. Played really solid. Used the same ball the whole way through. Would have been better if I didn't miss a few short putts.

84 at Terra Lago in Indio Saturday afternoon. Interesting course, but again had wind-judgment problems. Hit a few into the hazards or it would have been a much better round. I felt like I was playing much better than my score.
Have you ever guessed somebody's gender wrong? There's no recovering from that. You just gotta move on, cause you ain't wriggling outta nothin'.
    "Hey, excuse me, sir?"
    "Maam."
"Okay." "Okay, bye... bye, human. Bye person. Nice to meet you, individual."

Heh. I am usually long on my approaches when I blade my wedge. This a new problem I have developed.

For example, on my front nine 51 at San Juan Hills, I was about 60 yards away (uphill) from the green after a MASTERFUL drive on the 4th hole. I mean the drive was PRETTY!!! So I take out my 60* wedge, and promptly blade it and on a line it tagged the tree behind the green. Hit the tree square. The ball bounced back and rolled all the way to off the front of the green.

    It was awesome, or not.

my brother just called. Back to Oak Quarry on Saturday.

Yeah, I feel you. See below...

I actually think that knock off the tree and back off the front of the green is pretty awesome! It sucks, but it's great. Much better than winding up in the junk with no shot.

Shot 12 over at an executive course in Mission Bay. I've been in the process of changing my swing so the score is encouraging. My ball striking was way more consistent and nothing sliced. There were only a handful of par 4's which didn't give me many chances at woods or long irons but the ones I did hit went where they were supposed to. I'm going to try to play this weekend and will report back.

There would have been no junk for my next shot had I not hit the tree. I would have been 40 - 50 yards into the next fairway. , or in jail for killing someone waiting to get to the #5 tee.

    ---------------------

So I had a lesson on Thursday, and my instructor said I have too many wedges. I have the P (which is 45), 50,54, and 60. How many wedges do we all play with?

I also went to Dunn on Friday, and swung the Hi Bore XL, and the Hi Bore Utility 2i. uh oh. My wife may kill me. In January, I updated the audio (and by updated, I mean a rip and replace) in my truck, so I may need to back off the clubs for a little while longer...

FORE!!!!!!! 11:40 this morning @ Oak Quarry.

Played at The Lakes at El Segundo today.

Only a nine hole course but I had an excellent day.

Shot a 33 on the par 29 course, 4 over par baby!

I even have 3 witnesses to attest to it.

Now if I could have a similar type of day on a regulation course, I'd be very happy with an 80, heh.

Had three shanks in a row on the range, then proceeded to dead-top my drive off of No. 1 and thought "Here we go..."

But in the end, finished birdie-birdie for a 74 (at Rec Park.)

Seriously thinking about turning pro, passing the PAT and start teaching.

    alright, I'll bite.

Pre-round range was awful. Seriously bad. Hit a solid drive on #1, and then promptly chunk my 2nd shot into a bunker.

Hit a 361 yard drive on #2 (downhill, wind at my back) which is a 520 yard par 5, center cut. Pin is in the front, and still downhill and downwind, so I take a 50 planning to hit it a little short of the green and have it bounce on. I promptly pull it into the trap. Struggled for a par.

#3 - Par 3. Crosswinds. 4-iron into the bunker. #4, from the fairway into the bunker. Hit a 4 iron from 215 or so to the front of the green which rolls off the back of the green, and yes, into a bunker on #6. Getting the idea?

I must have hit 14 or so bunkers yesterday. Not only that, but some were soft, some were hard, and some were softer on top and still wet underneath.

oh well... Playing golf sure beats housework.
