Played Diamond Bar twice this week and will hopefully get back out tomorrow. Monday my driving was awful, but I managed to shoot an honest 86, which I was happy with after a week off.
Today, bleh, 91. I am FINALLY driving the ball straight again. I had been severely pulling, which on Monday turned into my old high slice, and today I was able to finally groove my swing and hit the ball straight. My irons were great, but everything else was so-so. In fact, I did not play all that poorly in any one part of my game, I just could not put shots together at all. Bogey golf.
I am beginning to grow more and more irritated with my local offerings though. I go at twilight, I go past twilight, I go at 10, 11, and I am always stuck behind one or two slow groups. Just can't catch a break. I shouldn't blame any of my play on this, but I know my mental game is just shot when I am waiting 4-5 minutes on every shot.

I hate this game.
Yesterday, I was at the range and was hitting the ball for ****. My instructor was wrapping up a group lesson and walked by, and took a look at my swing. The one ball I hit was HORRIFFIC. He tells me one freaking thing.. "Feel the weight shift across your feet." Next swing.... PURE!!!!
Rest of the bucket went much better!!!!
Damn this game!!!

Iron Duke - I commend thee on the 82 at Marshall Canyon. I think that's a very tough course.
Mr. Teeny - A 73 ANYWHERE is unbelievably great. I can't imagine ever scoring that well.
No One - Nice job with the 85.
I finally got out on a big course after piddling around on some par 3s the last few weeks.
No big deal, just my flat, easy Alondra course, but I did great with an 84.
The irons were ON today. Six GIRs with another half dozen just off the green.
Putting could have been a lot better but no three putts that I can think of, and driving was adequate.
I don't know what happened on the par four, 11th tee, but it was nice. The tees were back, I purposely took a shorter than normal back-swing, then made sure to follow through and just crushed the ball. I pushed it and it nearly caught the bunker of the green next to the hole parallel, the 3rd hole. Must have hit it about 300, which is rare for me, but I catch it just right sometimes. If only I'd kept it straight, I might have been on in one.

Nice round Bogey Man. Got out for the third time this week, we decided to go back to Marshall after playing Diamond Bar twice. 41 on the front with a pretty poor 45 on the back. I just mentally lost it around the 12th hole or so, the group behind us decided to hit early and one of their drives landed about 3 feet from me (short dog-leg hole). Wasn't really spooked so much as irritated, and so I sat and stewed about it for the next 7 holes rather than focusing on making some good shots.
Heat must make me irritable I suppose. Driving much more consistent, irons are great, chipping has taken a slight dip, my putting is horrendous.

Wow. Just wow.
Strolled down to San Juan Hills to walk on..
My driving has now gone to hell in a hand basket. In its place is chipping and some snake bitten putting (more on that later). My iron game is still crap, as is my full swing wedge game.
Ended up posting a 91 today. eh. Could have been a whole lot better. As i said, I was unable to get off the tee on most of the 14 holes. I was pulling some, slicing some, almost missing others. Really, it was fun. I wish I could blame the pace of play, but I also had this problem last week and Los Serranos played fine. So, it's me.
Around the greens I was damn good for me. I almost holed out on 11 from 10 yards off the green, damn ball went 1/2 way down before deciding it didn't want to go in.
For most of the greens, I was pretty close. There were 3 or 4 holes where the balled lipped out, and 2 or 3 others that were within a foot from the hole. Keep in mind, my iron shots and wedge game sucked, so I never really had a put under 15 feet or so. I won't tell you the putting horrors I experienced on 12, 13, and 14. YIKES!!!
So all in all, it wasn't that bad of a 91, but it was eh.

Not bad No One. I have become convinced that if I can start putting even mediocre, that my scores will start breaking into the 70's. Glad to hear you had that hot short game! I can sympathize with the driving though, I've had the same problems. Sounds like you are just trying to overadjust perhaps.
BTW, I saw mention above about a LGK Golf outing. I'd be interested, depending on the day and time.

I'd like to propose a couple courses for the next outing.
There's a nice nine-hole course in Wilmington just off the 110.
The Harbor Park Golf Course has two par threes, five par fours, and two par fives. Here's the scorecard.
After that I'd propose El Dorado or Victoria for full regulation courses.

After mentioning Victoria in my last post, I thought I'd play over there.
What a happy day. What a HAPPY day!
Had the best round of my life and therefore, my best round at Victoria, an 81!
I started out on fire.
Bogeyed the first hole then rolled off four consecutive pars.
My driving was ON which made for easy approach shots and simple two putts for par.
I was feeling so good and confident that I backed off what made my game so good (hitting with authoritah) and bogeyed and doubled the next two holes.
After a nice par and another bogey (givng me a 41 on the front nine), I pulled off a first, two birdies in a row.
First I had a decent drive on the 10th, followed by an incredible three-wood shot that I SWORE went somewhere left of the green when I hit it. I walked up and it's 4-5 yards from the green. Sweet. I wondered if the group in front of me saw my ball and tossed it there. It must have hit something, it looked like it was going left. Chipped up and putted in for the first birdie.
Next hole, the 11th, I drove one of those shots that I get every once in a while, a 290 bomb right down the middle. Awesome, awesome feeling to hit those. I was all ready to chip up and birdie, but I pulled my wedge and the ball wound up probably 16-20 feet away on the fringe, down the hill, and a big break away from the hole. Conceding defeat of getting a birdie, I decided to just try to get it close, because I thought this putt had NO chance to go in. I nonchalantly hit it, it rolls right up to the hole, hits the pin, and in. A sick, SICK lucky putt but I'll take it.
Next hole, the 12th, there's two bunkers on the left hand side. I've found myself in those bunkers in the past, so I aimed right of them.
Where does the ball go? Right toward the bunkers . . . BUT, I got some distance on this shot and it looks like it's going over the bunkers. SWEET!
I go up to look for my ball but I can't find it. I'm looking all over the environmental area. There's a group shooting up to the 2nd green, which is parallel and left of the 12th, and there's a ball just to the right of that green. I figure that's one of their balls. I walk back down the environmental area, can't find my ball. I walk back up toward the 12th green toward the ball right of the 2nd green. A dude driving up in a cart says "That's your ball." What!? No way. I go check it out. Yep, that was my ball! Yes, it was near the green of the parallel hole, but not that far from the 12th fairway and inside the 100 yard markers of the 389 yard 12th. Another 290 yard shot. SICK!
Well, I blow it and bogey that hole (terrible appoach shot into the sand and there's a whole other story surrounding that shot) as well as five other holes on the back nine, but with my two birdies I was four over on the back.
I am so stoked about those consecutive 290 yard shots. That's probably nothing for Mr. Teeny, but, I'm just imagining my game if I can start doing that consistently.
It was a HAPPY day.

I had an 80 at San Bernardino, 38+42.
On pace for a 77 and I Van De Velded on the 18th, took an 8 with a ball OB.
The Vokey was saving me all day, i was dropping and stopping it within 4-5 feet.
Irons were getting me in a little trouble, but i was hitting average 270 off the tee with the Cobra. Hit 71% of my fairways and 10 GIR.

Ideas on the best place to buy used clubs? As I previously mentioned my dumb ass left a vokey sand wedge on a course 2 weeks ago. Went back a few groups but nobody had it (or more likely somebody put it in their bag and said they didn't have it). Anyways I want to replace the club but don't want to pay the full cost of a new one.
I see there are pre-owned clubs on ebay. Anybody ever purchase one this way? Are there other places I can look?
Need a Vokey 56 degree wedge. (256.10 or 256.14)
Steel shaft (True Temper Dynamic Gold if possible).
