I'm in Orlando (Kissimmee, technically, I guess) and about to head out to Falcons Fire. Got an afternoon tee time and need to hit the range for about 2 hours to make sure my game's in shape.

Still have no idea where I'm playing tomorrow, but there's no shortage of courses around here.

Wow, 90 holes of golf over four days.
    Hardcore.
That's more than the professionals do it.

    Addendum to the this thread:
Could we add links to the places we've played and fees for rounds at those places?

    Example:

    Greens Fees:

One of the great things was having a caddie for every round. These guys carry 2 bags each!

For $265 a round, I'd expect a female caddy who polishes your shaft and rubs your balls.

Gents, I like where this tread is heading. Any female caddie that wets balls & cleans the shaft is good by me (as long as the bimbo is under 120lbs).

Anyways played a "best ball" event at Coyote hills. I suck at golf 110 swings on 18 holes; & I was the best in our group. We had a few legit birds, but finished 8 over. Now to my bit##-fest. We kept up with the group in front of us. It took 6.5 hours to play the round. We shoot-gun at 8:30AM & finished at 3PM... There were 42 foursomes on the course.

My only tip if you ever organize a large golf event; never more than 36 foursomes on an 18-hole course. Had a few good drives, a few nice approaches...

The course is nice & kept in great shape. The 7th or 8th has a huge drop. If you play the course the front is better than the back.

In the end had a fun time with a bunch of friends. & I need to keep on practicing......

Have fun & good luck if you play this weekend...

80 at Falcon's Fire... Overall hit them pretty damn good considering the layoff. Seemed to push everything to the right all day long, but that at least eliminated one side of the course for me.

Pretty wide open course, which helped. Lots of mounding. A lot of bunkers, but I only found two, and some water, which I guess I found once. It's weird to have standing water in a grove of trees marked as a lateral hazard... don't get that too much in California.

Identical nines of 40, with a bird, three bogeys, and a double on each. One of the doubles was in the lateral hazard, the other was one of the few possible unplayable lies on the course (bushes).

I'm out to Celebration (I think) in about an hour. We'll see how that goes.

(BTW... 8-6??? What the hell is up with that? I woke up this morning and saw the score before heading over to Hammond and here...)

    Nice round Mr. T!

I played at Wekiva and Sabal Point the last time I was out there (early '90s). Typical Florida courses in the $30 - 40 range back then.

For Bogey, here are a few listings for exceptional courses I've been lucky enough to play:

    BALI HAI - Las Vegas
    http://www.balihaigolfclub.com/bali-hai-golf-rates.asp

Nice hole-by-hole views / descriptions, too.

THE PRINCE COURSE - Princeville, Kauai
    http://www.princeville.com/prince_course.html

Rates are under "Golf Fact Sheet". Unbelievably scenic course.

    ROYAL LINKS - Las Vegas
    http://www.royallinksgolfclub.com/ro...golf-rates.asp

If you play here, wait 'til you get to #10!

    PASATIEMPO - Santa Cruz, CA
    http://www.pasatiempo.com/web/teetimes.php

A genuine Alister MacKenzie design; the home he owned still overlooks the 6th fairway.

PGA WEST (Stadium & Nicklaus Tournament courses)
    http://www.pgawest.com/golf.asp - Palm Desert, CA

No rates information for either the Stadium or Nicklaus Tournament courses. I think they may be listed in one of the golf discount books that are available. The downside is that it will probably be 120 degrees if you're out on either of them...

    KO'OLAU - Kaneohe, Oahu
    http://www.koolaugolfclub.com/golf.cfm

Nice photo tour; the price would probably pop up if one went through the tee time procedure. You gotta love any course where the front tees have a slope rating of 129...

    WAILUA - Lihue, Kauai
    http://kauai-golf.home.att.net/golf-kauai_005.htm

Terrific muni course - the back nine has some great holes. Always listed as one of the best public courses in the U.S. by Golf Digest.

HALF MOON BAY - Coast / So. of San Francisco
    http://www.halfmoonbaygolf.com/index...ge=the_courses

Good course (only played the Old Course, not the Ocean); the last 2 holes are outstanding.

Just for fun, I thought I'd drag this old chestnut out again:

    http://www.scga.org/courserating/crs...ty=LOS+ANGELES

It has much interesting information on all the SCGA member courses, as well as others, (Architect, stats, the club pro, course record holder, rates etc.). It's fun to check out.

The page is for L.A. County, but one can use the "Course Rating / Green Section" button and the "Course Directory" listing in the dropdown box that appears to get to other counties. Click on the map at the bottom of the resulting page.

Well, Celebration was much more of a challenge. I don't know what I ended up with because we were playing a little cart vs. cart better ball, but it had to be mid to high 80s.

This course was open in areas, but it made you think about almost every shot, even tee balls. Lots of hazards around the fairways and greens, sometimes on 3 of 4 sides around the green. Lots of undulation on some of the greens, combined with grain, made for some interesting putts.

I'd love to play this place again knowing what I do now. Some of my shots would have been more conservative or favored a different side of the green or fairway. I piped a perfect drive on 18 to the wide part of the fairway, but it went too far and through the fairway into a big outcropping of trees and bushes. I'd aim farther left next time...

Of course, not all my problems were due to the course. The course doesn't make you come down on a wedge so steep that you stub the club and throw fairway mud into your face. That's just plain old talent.

Good fun out here, though. Great weather for Florida, too. Back late tonight...
