89 last Saturday at Mile Square Players. Could have been much better, but again I couldn't hit a green to save my life, and I doubled 14 and 16, and tripled 18. The positives were all on the green. I had one BAD putt, and one eh putt. The rest were pretty good. I am getting more and more comfortable with my new putter, and it is showing in my pace.

Index is 13.4, up from 13.3. Trend should increase as the next round will kick off my 83 from San Clemente Muni (Diff 11.1). Earlier this month, the 80 at Skylinks (Diff. 8.2) dropped off the trend, kicking my index up a half a point.

Played TPC Valencia on Tuesday and even though it was cold, a little windy, and I barely broke 100, it was one of the nicest days I've ever had on the links. The course is perfect. Truly, not a blade of grass out of place. If you ever get the chance to play it -- don't pass it up!!

So I like to troll the thrift shops to see if there are any bargains, I've found a brand new Titelist Sunday bag and some nice balls before but today I scored six sleeves of brand new Nike One Golf Balls for $11. Four sleeves are One Platinum and two sleeves are Ones in the older gold box, one of which still has the price tag from the La Costa Resort for $15! I also picked up two sand wedges for a few bucks each. I have a few friends who don't have them in their bags so I'll pass them on, I even re-griped them.

Played in a 4 man scramble tourney that was set up by the marketing guy here at work. Played at an executive course, Birch Hills in Brea (par 59). There were 10 foursomes and I was teamed up with some stiffs and we shot a 67. The winning score was a 53. I got the closest to the pin prize on 18 to prove the old saying that even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while.

Oh yeah, I played for the first time in Months on 12/28. Hit up Shandin Hills, up at the 210/215, before going to Big Bear for the weekend. Not a great course, but whatever. Scored an 80. Pretty darn good score considering the layoff I had.

Well, I did shoot a kick ass 96 at El Dorado on 12/22. That was the only time i player when I had my 3 weeks off. Hey, the kid was home was home from school, and logistically it was tough.

When we (my brother and I) were looking for tee times, we were striking out. So I mention Oak Quarry. We got a 12:12 tee time. We show up at 10:45 or so, I have a hearty meal and then check in. No carts are available. We had to get a ride up to the range. Then we are waiting for carts.. 12:12, 12:20, 12:28, etc.. Didn't tee off until 1. Hit a good 3i to the middle of the fairway and 3 putt for a bogey. Miss the fairway left on #2 (not by much), layup, then stick my approach. Sink the putt. Hit a gorgeous 6 iron off the #3 tee to within 20', but miss the bird. Oh well.

I choke on #5 with a triple (6), after hitting the green from the tee box. I was on the wrong level, and for those who have played and are familiar with the hog back at the back of the green.. yep, I was there. That hill took my putt and ran it off the green. Pissed, I flub the next shot.

Front nine, 5/7 fairways, and 7/9 greens. Total for the front: 41!!! Damn triple!!!

Back nine was consistent, bogey golf. It got dark around hole 16, and in a rush I flub 2 wedges to the green, and blade one. Mind you, this was after a nice drive and nice 3 wood. ugh. 7.

    Didn't get to 17 or 18.

    Posted an 86.

Last night, say round 5:30 or so, I was looking for a tee time for me and my dad. I find one at Westridge (La Habra) for 8:07 AM. Yes, an 8 AM tee time found the night before. Amazing.

Tee off about 8:30, and get around by 1:15.

I was freaking on for most part with my ball striking. Divots (or at least ripped grass) starting in front of the ball. Sink a 15+' birdie putt on #2. Overall it was a good round. Posted an 84. The par 5's on the back (and the 4 three putts) killed me.

Of the 4 three putts, one was excusable. I was on the wrong tier on the 11th green. For those who have played, I was on top of the hill, and the pin was at the bottom. I tap my first putt, and it runs 10' past. Ugh. I did almost sink the come backer. I am really loving my putter (even with the 3 putts).

That is two weeks in a row where my iron play has been greatly improved. The clubs are starting to feel sweet.

Dude I don't know what happened my last round. I usually shoot around low 90's with an occasional dip into the 80's or close to the century mark. I shot a 108 at the Mile Square Players course on Sunday. I only sliced one drive and of course its one of the two (?) holes where doing so puts you in water. I was probably in the sand 1 out of every 2 holes. Took an 11 on the 2nd. Must have lipped out 7 puts from 8-15 ft.

What's really sucks is I was actually making really good contact and it felt like my ball striking was top notch. I had a lot of long straight drives, it's just a bunch of them caught sand (which was really light and soft making it even more difficult for me to get out of). Needless to say I was shaking my head after that round. It felt like I could have shot an 84 so how I ended up with a 108 is beyond me. Well some of that can be attributed to my putting (which is usually the strong part of my game) being off but not that many strokes.
