    Totally know how that goes, Lath... Sometimes playing well and scoring well are two totally different things. With golf, it's all relative. Next week you'll hit horrible drives that end up in the fairway, chunky approach shots that find the green, and end up in the 80s.

    Besides, Phil had an 11 last week. Maybe you're just following in the footsteps of greatness.

    Played Rancho on Sunday, nice but each tee was backed up two groups. We were walking up to a par three and the Marshall told us to speed it up cuz no one was on that hole and we were slowing things. But when we go to the next one the two groups we were following we waiting. Go figure. We started at 1 and had to quit in the middle if 15 at around 5:30/6 due to darkness... (Don't bother to ask for my score, it was high).

    After not playing in a month, I was able to get out twice this past weekend.

    On Saturday, I walked onto David L. Baker. Used mostly irons, even on the longer holes. I did breakdown a few times and used the 3 wood. My putting was pretty good, even though I hadn't played in a month. I was able to finish the last 4 holes in 2 under. Shot a 70 (+8).

    Then, on Sunday I walked onto Mile Square (Players). I couldn't tell you if the course had fairways or not. After the first 2 holes, I was barely on the fairway. Taking into account the forced layoff (work), I was not able to really practice with the driver and it showed. Most of my drives were pulls or pull-hooks, which is real sweet considering that my natural ball flight is draw off the driver. Don't ask me why I didn't give up with the driver, but I didn't. Must have cost me 7 or 8 strokes, just trying to get the ball back into play.

    Putting was again pretty damn good. Only 1 three putt. I was able to sink a 20 foot birdie putt on the par 3 16th hole.

    My chipping was pretty poor, but that seems to be the easiest to loose with a layoff.

    Carded a 92.


    Was able to get to the range yesterday, and spent more time than normal with the driver. I usually reserve the driver for the last 6 - 8 balls or so, since I only use the driver at most 14 times per round. Normally, there isn't a need to hit it 40% of the time.

    Almost got it back. Working on my takeaway, and it seems to be working.

    Sucks about the layoff, but it's nice to see that someone's out there playing again. I still haven't touched the clubs since Christmas. One day I'll get back at it.

    Woo Hoo!!!!!!

    Got out again today.

    San Juan Hills.

    Man, it was in immaculate condition today. The best that I had ever seen it.

    I put together a pretty good round today. I had 3 three putts, but only one of them was inexcusable. The other 2, I was barely on the green and the pin was on the other side of the green. For those who have played there, I was on the FAR left on #2, and the pin was on the FAR right. The other one was 14, the flag was WAY in the back, and I was just on in the front.

    I only blew up on one hole, and was able to get it back. I took a 7 (triple) on #11, after being in the fairway. Ugh. Oh well, after that I was able to finish the remainder in 3 over.

    83.

    I think the Trend Index is down to 12.5.

    I so rule at this game!!!! I can't believe how awesomo I played yesterday..

    Went to Eagle Glen in Corona for the first time, and let me say that I need to check the weather reports before playing. I had no idea that there was going to be a wind advisory yesterday. None. So there I am with no jacket and in shorts. Luckily, my dad has a 2nd jacket.

    (Keep in mind that Eagle Glen is carved out of a canyon.)
    So the first hole is 380 yards or so, but since the winds were from the west, the hole was dead into it. And these weren't light winds, they were mother****in' devil winds!!!! Walked off the first hole with a 5 and feeling pretty good about myself. Top the tee shot on #2.

    I did hit a few nice drives and putts throughout the day, but just couldn't get it together at all. Possible reasons -
    1) Wind. Was 30 - 40 all day, gusts probably higher.
    2) Didn't eat at all during the round. I am one that does need to eat to play well. My fault.
    3) Too much to drink on Friday night at the Bad Religion show. I woke up a little drunk on Saturday morning.

    So, I end up posting a nice round 100.

    After the round, I grad a beer and some guy (who occasionally hit into us (some places in the fairway are hard to see from the tee box)) posts his score. I am in perfect view of the SCGA computer. His index is a 1.9... his score yesterday was an 82.

    So I felt better.



    I need to replay the course. It was a nice layout, and was more of a shotmakers course.

    Been a while since I visited this thread.
    Been a while since I played golf.
    Finally played a round.

    The Lakes in El Segundo.
    Hit a bucket of balls first.
    Hit the W, 9, & 8 well.
    Couldn't get the 7 down so I just stuck with it for most of the rest of the bucket.
    Finally finished off the last five balls with the 3W and the driver. Hit those poorly.

    Was about to leave when I noticed that the 1st tee was open.
    Asked if I could hop on and they let me.

    Bogeyed the first hole, birdied the 2nd, doubled the 3rd, parred the 4th (hit a GREAT 3W), the 5th and the 6th, just bogeyed the 7th, parred the 8th, and BIRDIED the 9th.
    My first birdie on the 9th at The Lakes.
    Hit the 5I into the first bunker on the right.
    Though I hit the bunker it was a great shot, which was surprising because I couldn't even get the 7I down on the range).
    Out of the bunker, another great shot 7-8 feet from the hole.
    Lined it up and sunk it!

    Not bad for not playing for many weeks.

    So, I have played twice since my last post.

    Sat 3/22 - Mile Square Players.. A consistent front eight holes. Blow up on 9, for a double. Ugh, finish the front in 43. Absolutely suck ass on the back. I think I shot a 48. ugh.

    Sat 3/29 - San Juan Hills - Absolutely suck on the front. Not one par, but no triples until number 9. Yikes. Finish the 9 with a 48. Slightly turned it around on the back with 5 pars (4 in a row from 11 - 14). Finished the back with a 42.

    Index for April 2008 - 12.6 - Lowest Ever. My next round will kick off an 84 (differential 12.3). If the round is bad, then it will be replaced with a 92 (differential 16.2).

    That's a good score with rented clubs no matter the course.

    Didn't do as well as last time: +1, +1, +1, +1, -1, +1, +1, +1, +1

    The tee shot on 5 resulted in the ball being two feet from the hole.
    It was rolling right toward the hole too.
    Thought I was gonna get my first hole-in-one on that one.
