I played Industry Hills for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was VERY nice. The only thing that sucked was that my short game SUCKED.
I played at Los Serranos on Saturday. My ball striking overall is improving, which led to 2 birdies on the front (#3 and #8).
However, once again I couldn't find a fairway to save my life. Out of 14 fairways, I think I hit 3. It is like I have lost all ability to get off the tee. I guess this is one of my 2008 problem. 2007 was my iron play and putting, while 2008 will be the year I can't drive or hit wedges.
The wedge play was iffy from 95 yards and in. I just have no confidence right now in those clubs, which sucks. It is like I close my eyes and pray, mostly to no avail.
Around the greens, my game was okay, however get me in greenside bunker and look out. If you are in line with me, you may as well wear a hardhat. My clubs are just bouncing into the ball. ARGH!!!!
Ended up 41/46. There was a nice 3 hole stretch on the back that went triple, double, triple. That ruled.
Woot, golf season is back. IDaylight Savings.
First round back, 79 at Marshall Canyon. I can PUTT all of a sudden. And a 305 yard drive? Too good to be true. Pinch me someone.
Will get a better gauge of where I'm REALLY at this weekend. Playing Marshall with my pappy on Friday, then hitting El Prado on Saturday with some friends.
So I have played 2 1/2 round since the last update.
Played 9 at Meadowlark on 4/18, and did birdie 2 holes. However, ended up 8 over (43). Bad day.
last Saturday, I get a tee time at Big Rec. Have you ever had one of those days where nothing is right? Nothing. Couldn't hit a fairway, couldn't recover well, couldn't chip, and could hardly putt.. Carded a nice 94.
So today, I head out to Los Serranos (again), this time the longer South course. Played from the Blues, which is rated at 74.2 (Par 74), and 133 slope. Start the day off hitting the fairway on #1 (Par 5), and end up with a birdie!!! Woo Hoo!! Last time I did that, I shot 82. Then on the 2nd tee, I hit my ball over the fence, but it was on a line to where it barely made it back in play. ugh. Take my new Taylor Made Rescue TP 3 hybrid, and just advance the ball. End up with Par.
On the front I was able to hit 6 of seven fairways, and walk out with a 42 (+5).
On the back, I was able to hit ZERO of seven fairways. However, it wasn't like I was that far off. All of the misses were recoverable. However, I wasn't able to go for the green on the par 5 16th hole.
So, after hitting ZERO fairways, I was able to get off the course with a 42 on the back as well.
84 (I want to say 8.2 differential), and I couldn't play for dick at Big Rec the week before. Ugh.
Looking at the card, I still had too many putts (33). I am putting much better though, I just need to get my approaches closed to the hole.
The computer said my trend is now down to a 12.0, but it didn't have the scores from the last 2 weeks (and the 9 @ meadowlark, which I think will be combined with my only other 9 hole score). So it may be a little higher.
May 1, 2008 Index Update...
12.7, up from 12.6 for April.
Trend Index in now 12.0 (lowest ever).
I think getting down to single digit may still be attainable in 2008!!!!!

I must be the only one playing golf this spring!!! I guess that is what happens when the kid goes 2200 miles away from home for college. He did get into the Derby today, as I was at Skylinks.
Let me just say that today at Skylinks was amazing. I don't know what happened, but our tee time was 11:09, and were off the tee around 11:20. Not only that, we had minimal waits on the par 3's and no other waits.
Anyhow, same story, different day.. Can not find a fairway with the driver, except once. Luckily, i was able to recover most of the time.
2 birds (1,9) on the front, as well as a 2 hole blow up (3,4) where I scored nice round sevens.
Anyhow, finished the front with 42.
Uneventful back 9, 3 pars, 5 bogeys, and a double. 43.
2nd biggest issue of the day was my bunker play. I used to be about average out of the trap, and now I freaking suck (or maybe all other aspects of my game have improved, except the sand)..
Carded an 85.
Looks like the Trend Index is now 11.7.
Only 1.8 more to go!!!! 3 more low 80's rounds (or lower)
85 is an excellent score.
I have too many other junk going and kinda lost motivation to golf.
I need to get off my ass, get some other junk done, clear my mind, and get back on the links.
Wow. Just wow.
Saturday was my worst day is a while. Couldn't get off the tee, couldn't hit an approach, couldn't get it close, and couldn't putt. The greens were incredibly slow on Saturday.
But hey, I could walk with the best of 'em.
I walked onto Skylinks, and it didn't take that long for me to tee off, and the round only took about 5 hours.
After the round, I was so pissed, and I went back to the range and hit 50 or so more balls trying to figure out what I am doing wrong.
I then meander over to the practice after the round. The practice green was so much faster than the actual greens, I was astounded.
After no birds, very few pars thanks to my SIX 3-putts, and my fair share of doubles, I ended up with a 91.
Damn it....
