You know what's awesome, though? You say you couldn't do anything right out there, but you still carded a 91. That's a huge improvement over what it used to be when you couldn't do anything right.

In other news: you ARE the only one playing golf this spring. I still haven't played since Christmas. I need to get off my butt like Bogey and get out there. Hopefully soon I'll get out to Palm Springs with my buddy and play 3 rounds in a couple of days to get me jump started.
Have you ever guessed somebody's gender wrong? There's no recovering from that. You just gotta move on, cause you ain't wriggling outta nothin'.
    "Hey, excuse me, sir?"
    "Maam."
"Okay." "Okay, bye... bye, human. Bye person. Nice to meet you, individual."

I got out to play at Marshall Canyon twice again last week (yes, I'm boring, I play the SAME course all the time, mostly because it's cheap and it's close...well, and San Dimas Canyon always has a tournament going and probably the most unfriendly staff I've ever seen).

Anyway, last Tuesday shot an 84. Driving was HORRIBLE. Slicing and duck hooking again. Discovered later in the week that it was probably a flying elbow that was throwing my whole plane off. Putting was on the money though.

Friday, shot a front half 43 (ugh), just like Tuesday. Driving was solid, iron shots were great, but I had 21 (!!!) putts through 9. Really, after my putting on Tuesday, I was about ready to break the damn putter over my knee and be done with it. Well, came around on the back 9, shot a 36 (E). Short irons were deadly, driving was great.

Just to show how funny golf can be:
    Tuesday- 3/14 Fairways, 4/14 GIR
    Friday-13/14 Fairways, 12/18 GIR

My wife says shooting an even back nine as about the worst thing that could have happened, because I'll probably start thinking that I can actually play this game. Heh...

Oh, as a sidenote, be sure to check out greenskeeper.org. It's a website devoted to golfers and golfing in the California/Nevada area. Has course reviews, tournament listings, index trackers, forums, course alerts (i.e. aerating greens, etc...) and a bunch of other cool stuff. I got on there about 3 weeks ago. The forums aren't TOO active, but there's a lot of great info about the local courses on the website.

A lot of that was the course. It isn't like there is a lot of danger at Skylinks. If I were to drive the ball like I have been at either Arroyo Trabuco or Tijeras Creek, I would be dead. The score would be approaching 150, and my posting score would be 126 (18*7). O.K., maybe not that high, but definitely in the upper 90's to 100's.

I am thinking of trying to do 54 holes in 3 days once I return from Louisville in June. We are going out there to drop the kid back off, and need to get him stuff for his house (like a bed, dresser, and desk). I will be back on Wednesday, and am taking the rest of the week off, so I can play Thursday, Friday, Saturday (and maybe Sunday, though it is the final round of the US Open and Father's Day).

Finally played at a regulation course.
I only finished 15 holes as I played twilight.

    Played at Dominguez.
Mostly bogeys except for a couple pars and a couple blow-up eights.

Went for a 5 mile hike yesterday then walked the ~4 miles on the course today.
    My dogs are barking.

Supposed to go on another short (2 mile) hike tomorrow.

    Today was just god awful.

    No discussion needed.

96 at Mile Square, Classic. Maybe I should stop walking. The 84 was riding, the rest were walking.

    What a month.

I did break my bag today. I tossed my sand wedge towards the bag, at what I thought was low rate of speed. I hit one of the legs just right, and down went the bag.

I feel the pain. Shot an 87 the other day (ok, ok, I know, high expectations much?)...felt miserable about it. Solid ball striking, but the ball just wasn't doing what I wanted it to. On the positive side, I used to feel terrible about shooting 100's, so I suppose I can take shooting in the 80's, lol. Bleh. Wish I could get out to some more courses and see if I'm really improving that much, or if it's just familiarity with that course.

I also ride all the time, so am curious to see where I'd be walking. Problem is, Marshall being a canyon course, there's some pretty hefty walking. I've been consistently pulling my irons lately, or I think I'd have a real solid shot at maybe a 76-78. Don't get it, either some serious alignment problems, or I'm just really yanking my follow through.

Would love to play with you all some time in the summer.

So, I was able to play hooky yesterday afternoon. Shhhh!!! Don't tell anyone.

Got onto Skylinks with no warm up, so the first hole wasn't great.

The game slowly came back to me. It was my most consistent round in a few weeks. No big blowups. Putting came back a bit, as did the wedge game. However, the iron game, while better, was no where near where it should be. Driving was better, but not close to what it once was.

Three putted 9,17, and 18. 9 was the worst, as I had a great first putt. 18 was okay, since the pin was in the back left, and I was on the front left edge. Those who are familiar with Skylinks know that that is a LONG way. The greens still are not 100% recovered from the aeration, and were still slow.

    Ended up with an 88.

Should keep the index under 12.

Friday - El Dorado - Man, what a bad front. Ended up pretty good. 48/42.

Today - Mile Sqaure Classic - Again, bad front. I was only +2 on the back until I got to 17 and 18. Went 3 over (total) to finish with a 41. Walked this one. Of course, had a 46 on the front and I was 7/7 on fairways. I just missed about 6 or 7 putts, all hit the lip on the low side. Oh well.

So I now have Winn Xi7 grips.

Walked on to the Players course at Mile Square. Was +2 after 7, but finished the next 2 in 3 over, and ended up with a 41 on the front. After the 7th, I started pulling my drives again. I don't know why... It was frustrating.

I started the back with a HUGE push (nothing like over compensation). Yikes!!! Ended up with a 44 on the back. 85 total.

The most frustrating part of the day was the putting. I was this close AGAIN.. Pace was pretty good, just a little short on most.

The best part of the day, playing with the kid who is only home for one more week from Louisville.

My official June 2008 index is 12.1 (lowest ever).

Spreadsheet now says my index is 11.6. Maybe I won't play the rest of the month? HA!!!! Heading to El Dorado today!!!
