The greens were slow and a bit bumpy. Other than that, it seemed in pretty good shape. Not lush, but pretty good.

you know, when you can't drive the ball straight on a course with a ton of trees, you tend to hit a lot of them.
Story of my round yesterday, at Green River. I was on the Orange course.
A big fat whopping 93, which kicked a nice round off my last 20. Kicked my index up from 11.7 to 12.2.
well now, yesterday was nice.
I couldn't drive real well, couldn't approach real well, couldn't chip real well, and also couldn't putt real well.
I lost 6 balls, and had 4 or 5 three putts.
Still ended up posting a 90.
Eagle Glen.
No One, how do you go out and golf during the 3rd round of the US Open??? I was inside virtually all day watching. I was able to practice my 12 ft. chip shots in the living room, but that's it.
So, my last two round have been the suck. Serious suckage..
2 weeks ago, I shot a 97 at San juan Hills. Yesterday, 100 at San Juan Hills.
Yep. TRIPLE MOTHERF***IN' DIGITS!!!!
Both rounds were shankalicious, maybe even shanktastic. Range didn't help. No range didn't help. However, there was a bright spot yesterday.
I focused on my weight shift (keep my weight on the inside of my legs) from the 13th hole on, as I finally thought that my left hip was sliding instead of turning.. My round ended (14 - 18) with par, bogey, triple (yanked a 5 iron OB, which didn't piss me off, since I didn't shank it!!!), par, par. My 3rd into the par 5 17th hole was one of better irons of the day. Flush off the center of the clubface (finally). I actually just missed the birdie putts on 17 and 18..
We'll see what happens this week.
Went out EARLY this morning at Whittier Narrows. First group off. No practice... just a few swings in the parking lot to get loose. Shot a 79 that could have been tons better if I learned how to putt. I could also learn how to chip it closer, and maybe how to hit a straight drive instead of a push.
The place has some of the smallest greens I've ever seen. Some of them all of 10 yards deep. The good thing is there's really no trouble to be found other than some trees.
yesterday was my first time playing in 10 years. ive been to the driving range a few times recently but no real golf. walked up as a single and they told me i could start immediately. no warmup at all.
shot a 91 at green river riverside course. would have been better if my putting wasnt an embarrassment.
87 yesterday in my club's tournament...i was REAL happy...especiallly for having back surgery 3 months agos....
Good: decent score, 280-300 yard drives
Bad: short game and putting stunk...and my back was REAL sore at the end of the day...
So.. looking at that you would think I rule so much at this game, I would just stop playing. I mean, how can anyone beat a 100?
On Monday, I head out to the range and shank it all over god's green earth. That was fun. I walk into the Pro Shop, and ask for my instructors book, and much to my surprise I was able to get a lesson for Thursday at 5:30. WOOT!!!!!!!
Guess what? WAY to long on the backswing.
friday's range was better, and this morning wasn't too bad. I had a 1:37 tee time at Costa Mesa (Los Lagos). First time playing it. Just miss the fairways on the opening par 5's and end up with bogeys. ugh. Easy ass holes. Play okay on the front which is a HUGE step up for me this summer. Finish with a 44 (+7), with a 4 putt double on a par 5. I really love those 4 putts when I hit the green in regulation.
On the back, I was better. Started Par - Double - Par, then went Bogey - Par - Par - Bogey - Par - Par. 39 on the back, 4 over.
Posted an 83.
The worst part of my game was the putting, by far. Too many 3 putts. Of course, I haven't practiced putting in 2 weeks, and didn't spend any time on the greens this morning. (working out the shanks!!).
but hey.. Keeps the index at 12.1.
