Have you ever guessed somebody's gender wrong? There's no recovering from that. You just gotta move on, cause you ain't wriggling outta nothin'.
"Hey, excuse me, sir?"
"Okay." "Okay, bye... bye, human. Bye person. Nice to meet you, individual."
trying to find the loft of the zevo PW...
anyway.. last week was BAD BAD BAD.. a 90 at Turstin Ranch. I could score to save my hide. My approaches and chips were bad. Driving was a little better with the new shaft.
Then today, I head out to Green River and play the Riverside course. I am driving the ball pretty well, however I am unable to get it close enough to score. ARGH!!!! I go 5 over on the front (41).
Start of the back with a birdie on 10 and then rack up 5 consecutive pars. Four of those 5 pars were up and downs, as my chips were mostly within 3 feet and the putts were falling. I get to 16, a 577 yard par 5 and I start thinking about my cumulative score. I push the ball WAY right off the tee. I have no shot, so I take the driver again and move the ball as forward as I can go but I am still in the trees. Things get better, but I still end up bogeying the hole.
Still thinking about my score, I come to 17 which is a 178 yard par 3. This hole is DEAD into the wind, since the course is in the Santa Ana canyon. I take my three WOOD, and pull it badly. I am dry, but I have no shot. I lob my 60 and get it safely on the green, with 45 - 50 feet for par. I miss by inches, but salvage bogey and am happy about it. (Smart golf isn't my forte).
18 is my WORST drive on the day, by far. Way left it goes, but I have a clear shot to the green. I was about 165 away, uphill and into a stiff breeze. Let's just say it was a good miss with my 5 iron. I am on the green with a good 10 - 12 putt. I SO want to finish the back nine even par. I line the putt up, and pull the putter back and through. Decent pace, but a little off line.... it rolls... it slows up at the cup, and somehow falls in!!!!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An even par 36 on the back!!!!!!!!! My first ever sub 80 round... Posted a 77.
Popped that bad boy into the computer... Trend is now 9.6.
Down to a 10.1 after shooting an 83, then 82 on consecutive Saturdays at San Dimas, then a bad back 9 at Diamond Bar left me with an 85. Had some major problems driving for a few rounds, hitting 1 of 12 fairways on that round of 82 (how I missed 11 fairways and STILL shot an 82 still has me scratching my head).
Figured out my issues the following round, hitting 10 of 14 the Diamond Bar round. Was way too vertical and standing too close to the ball causing a major slice. I'm hopefully going to be playing Angeles National on Wednesday, as my Uncle is hosting a junior golf tournament that day. We'll see how that goes, tough course if my driver isn't working. I'm thinking that 8-9 hdcp by the end of the year might not be TOO far out of reach.
In other news, I actually figured out how to become a rather adequate putter all of a sudden. Only 2 3-putts in the last 3 rounds, and several birdies. Funny how much that can change your scores in a flash.
On the lighter side... I posted a 59 at Hazeltine......on Tiger 10 of course!
