so far in 2012, I have been able to regain my single digit index..
nothing all that spectacular, although I have played Journey at Pechanga and also Goose Creek (finally).
I did play Goose Creek again on Sunday and dropped a net 81 (gross probably 83, with that 9 on par 5). I was 230 out on the par 5 12th hole which is deadly for my 3 wood. However, it turned out to be expensive for me as I pushed 2 balls OB. Just blocked 'em both out... So, if you see a Srixon Z-Star with a red markings through the Srixon and dots around the number, the ball with the number 3 has been hit ONCE. The once with the number 4 had been used for a few holes. (Yes, I shot that 81 while losing a sleeve of balls).
Gawd, I'm afraid to think of what my golf game is like now. Shot a 78 at Alondra long course from the blues, but that was about 2 years ago (haven't had much time to play unfortunately). I need to start playing again.
Sunck out of work early yesterday and shot an 81 at Sharp Park up here in San Francisco (well, Pacifica) and right along the coast
For those of you that don't know, there is a great article about it in this month's Golf Magazine. It was designed by Allister Mackenzie - same guy that designed Agusta National with Bobby Jones - back in 1926, I think. There is a group of environmental nuts who want to shut it down to protect a frog that lives in an adjacent wetland. If you're ever up in the area, it's a neat little track. Could be maintained better, but the design is light years ahead of most courses
I played in a scramble tourney last weekend at Fullerton. I won the closest to the pin on #11 (2 1/2 club lengths away) and got $20.
I picked up a set of nice Ping Eye 2 irons (2 - PW) at PIAS for $85 the day before the game. They are pretty sweet. I need to play more!
I guess I am the only one still playing golf here at LGK.
Time for the 1H 2012 Update.
I started the year as a 10.7. I haven't been able to practice as much as I would like as work was getting in the way. I had only been to get to the range once every 2 or 3 weeks, so I tempered my expectations and guess what has happened since May 1?
Nothing higher than 85 in the last 9 rounds, so the old index is now down to a best ever 7.9..
My putting has improved dramatically, as the number of three putts is WAY down and I am keeping total putts around 30 more often than not (used to be 34 - 36).
I wonder if I some extra stamina as I have begun walking 10 - 20 miles per week, and also walking on what ever courses I can. The extra physical stamina could also be affecting my mental stamina as well. Who knows, but without practicing my scores have lowered.
Oh well. time to work on distance control, as my distance control is "U.S. Open Weekend at Olympic Tiger Woods" like.
Got out there for the first time in 3 months on Saturday and broke 80 at Mile Square Players. It definitely helped to make a couple of 20+ foot putts, to hit a few chips to gimme range, and to stick a 9-iron to a foot. I played my first round with Bridgestone B330S balls, and I like them a LOT better than the Nikes I'd been using. I feel like the ball is jumping off the club, launching high, and going the distance I used to hit again. Now I just need to figure out what I was doing in my swing to make my left shoulder/collarbone hurt like hell.
Gotta heal the shoulder and start going more often so I can be sharp for the Kings tourney on 9/18.

Have you ever guessed somebody's gender wrong? There's no recovering from that. You just gotta move on, cause you ain't wriggling outta nothin'.

"Maam."
"Okay." "Okay, bye... bye, human. Bye person. Nice to meet you, individual."

I concur with Bridgestone B330S over Nike. I played the 330S before going to Srixon, and to be honest I find very little difference between the 330S and the Z-Star. I just happen to prefer the feel of the Z-Star SLIGHTLY over the B330S.
Every so often I do grab a dozen non Z-star balls just to see. I tried the Nike 20xi-Z(?) and 20xi-S (?) last year, and I hated them. Prior to that I didn't like the One Blacks either.
BTW, it is getting close to upgrade time for my driver and 3 wood. Currently use a 2008 or so TM Tour Burner with a UST ProForceV2 shaft for the driver and Callaway Diablo Edge tour with the stock stiff shafts for the 3 wood and 2i hybrid.
Guh... This weekend I couldn't do a damn thing right. My left collarbone still hurts like a bitch once I start hitting balls. Somehow I was pulling wedges 20 yards left from 100 yards out. I can normally push-fade the driver all day long (I just don't know exactly how much I'm going to push it), but on Saturday everything was a draw. When I aimed up the right side playing for the draw, I'd hit it dead straight and wind up in trouble. Too many bunkers, and most of the time I was either plugged or had a side-hill/down-hill lie with no green to work with. I hit a few good putts, but didn't make jack.
Stupid game. 89. 11 shots worse than last time.
And to top off the weekend, I pulled something in my lower back my first shift of the 2nd period on Sunday. Now I can't move. No golf or hockey for me for a while. Boo!!!
