Blue Jackets edge Sharks 4-3
Uncharacteristic turnovers and sloppy play enabled the Blue Jackets to skate out of town with a 4-3 win, nailed down with the help of a late-game turnover by Joe Pavelski, normally one of the most reliable Sharks.Pavelski committed the turnover just inside the San Jose blue line to R.J. Umberger, who fed Ryan Johansen in the right circle. The Columbus forward beat Antti Niemi with a shot over the goalie's right shoulder for his fifth goal of the season at 18:23 of the third period to decide it.Pavelski's 15th goal of the season, a power-play strike at 14:57, had tied the game minutes earlier. The Sharks, who stand fifth in the West, are down to three games: a regular-season home finale on Tuesday against Dallas and games Wednesday in Phoenix and Saturday in Los Angeles.
