Corey Perry suspended 4 games by NHL for hit on Jason Zucker (PuckDaddy)
It was obviously late. Corey Perry had ample time to either minimize the contact or turn away from the hit. He did not, and for that, his hit on Minnesota Wild forward Jason Zucker has earned him a four-game suspension:
(Good to see Rob Blake giving Shanny a break.)
According to the NHL, Perry will lose $115,135.12. How much would that be a year from now after he cashes in on a new contract?
Perry said on Tuesday night that he was committed to the hit and because of the speed of the game was unable to let up. The puck was far gone and with no sudden movements by Zucker, Perry catching his head at that speed led to a scary few moments as the Wild forward lay on the ice.
Zucker did skate today, but not with the rest of his teammates. Wild coach Mike Yeo told the Star Tribune's Michael Russo that, despite the head contact, Zucker did not sustain a concussion, “I don’t think he’d be allowed to be on the ice if that was the case."
