NHL 3 Stars: Jets get ‘Little’ help; Penguins’ stretch win streak to 12 (PuckDaddy)
Hockey: A beautiful sport.
No. 1 Star: Bryan Little, Winnipeg Jets
Little was in on all three goals in the Jets' 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. The opener he scored himself:
He then added assists on the Jets' second and third tallies, and also went an impressive 19-for-26 on faceoffs.
No. 2 Star: Evgeni Nabokov, New York Islanders
Nabokov stopped all 26 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over the hapless Florida Panthers. Andy MacDonald scored the game-winner, and the Islanders added two more into an empty net in the game's dying seconds.
No. 3 Star: Roman Cervenka, Calgary Flames
The Flames started slow, going almost 10 minutes before registering their first shot of the game, but not long after, Cervenka got them going by opening the scoring. He would add another and Jarome Iginla would score the game-winner as the Flames topped the St. Louis Blues, 3-2.
Honourable mention: Sidney Crosby scored a late goal to tie, then Tyler Kennedy potted the OT winner as the Pittsburgh Penguins extended their winning streak to 12 games with a*2-1win over the Philadelphia Flyers...*Jimmy Howard made 33 saves at the Detroit Red Wings beat the Anaheim Ducks for the second time in three days, 2-1... P.A. Parenteau had a two-point night, but it wasn't enough for the Colorado Avalanche, who fell to the Vancouver Canucks, 3-2...*The Washington Capitals are suddenly just two points out of a playoff spot after a 3-2 shootout victory over the New York Rangers. Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom had two-point nights and shootout goals in the win. Henrik Lundqvist deserved better, especially after making this save with his face:
Did you know? The Calgary Flames have won 7 straight at home.
Dishonourable mention: Brayden Schenn, who briefly mistook Pierre McGuire's commentator's box for his bench. It was like getting into Dr. Zoidberg's trashcan. "Friend, hello!" an excited McGuire said.
