Thread: 2012 NHL Kings Trivia Every Kings Fan Should Know

That was the time at which Kopitar popped in the goal which gave the Kings the win in game 1.

You think you're a Kings fan?
(I thought I was a Kings fan. Some of you are just...WOW!)
You should KNOW this bit of information (the time at which Kopitar popped in the goal) automatically, instantaneously, like the back of your hand.

I'm reminded of this scene from City Slickers (go to 0:38 seconds in, if you have no patience)...

It's just like in the movie City Slickers. (If you haven't seen it, you should. Billy Crystal is awesome in it.) The three main characters are really into sports, especially baseball. It's a recurring topic of conversation throughout the movie. While a group of people are talking, baseball comes up. The woman in the group says she doesn't understand men and baseball - after being asked if she doesn't like baseball, she replies:

"No, I like baseball. I just never understood how you guys can spend so much time discussing it. I mean, I've been to games, but I don't memorize who played third base for Pittsburgh in 1960."

As soon as she finishes her sentence, the three guys all say, "Don Hoak," proving her point that men memorize everything about a sport they like.

This is how most of you (us?) should be with 2012 Kings trivia.

What other bits of pertinent 2012 Kings trivia (pertinent trivia?) should be instantaneously known by Kings nuts?

Assists to Doughty and Williams on the Kopitar goal.
Game 1 was on May 30th, 2012.
Colin Fraser scored the first goal with an assist from Jordan Nolan.

Jeff Carter scored at 13:42 of OT1 in game two in a 2-1 win on June 2, 2012, assists to Penner and Martinez.
Doughty scored the first goal unassisted.

While I agree with you about knowing certain things....there is probably a limit to how far I'd go...just sayin....and no disrespect...

A) Baseball cats have time to remember that s*** and their whole sport is about compiling numbers, so it comes with the territory.

B) I was f***ing there. I was there under Andy Murray. I was there under Crawford. I was there under Terry Murray. And I watched. I watched when I had to convince myself that maybe Rob Cowie could be good or that hey! Dmitri Kristich was good in Washington! So if I don't know the time of the goals, it's not like I care if you do. And I know that a lot of people around here have put in more than my 20 years, and I bet that they don't care either.

Yup, myself included...twenty-something year fan and I like to think I know probably more than the average hockey/Kings "casual" fan, just don't think it serves me anything to know the exact time certain goals were scored. That's probably my stopping point on memorizing stats.

Whether or not the time of the OT goals are remembered, I think for any die-hard Kings fan, the following phrases will require no explanation:
