Stoll and Richards are playing for a spot on the roster in 2015-2016 next season IMO. I once heard that the Kings and Williams were already talking about an extension, but there has been radio silence on that front ever since the initial rumor came out.

As for whether DL should start this process now, I imagine he is well aware of whose contracts are expiring and when and when is the appropriate time to start discussions about extensions, and his judgment on that subject is far more sound that anyone's here.
This is of course true. But I still am trying to figure out what we are allowed to discuss on an LA Kings message board, if not our (admittedly meaningless) opinion on something like this?

Well, if it goes up the same percentage as this year it'll be 74 million, plus another 2 when the Canadian broadcast deal gets tagged on (it was held back this year). So about 76 million. After King we'll be at about 68 million so that's give us about 19 million to sign key UFAs Stoll, Williams, Regehr, Martinez... plus some raises to key RFAs Clifford, Pearson, Toffoli, Muzzin and Jones. If Stoll, Williams and Martinez sign for an average of 4,4,4 it's doable. The season after that is only Kopitar and Lewis.

...and what if the Canadian dollar drops?

Regehr isn't going to get another contract with the Kings IMO. The Kings are going to need McNabb or another young defenseman to fill his spot for less money in order to pay Muzzin and Martinez, if the Kings do indeed keep both of them. I am hoping that Sutter is going to at least experiment a little next season with:

    Muzzin - Doughty
    Martinez - Voynov
    Greene - McNabb

    or more likely

    Muzzin - Doughty
    McNabb - Voynov
    Greene - Martinez

I suspect Stoll is let go. You have to make some room for new guys, and sitting on the 3rd line with demands that will probably be $5m+, he's a good candidate to go.

    Williams I'm sure will re-sign.

Since 09-10, Kopitar has been playing under a contract that paid and will pay him $7.5M this season and next and $7.7M in 15-16. He'll have to be re-signed, but I can't really see him getting a raise.

that's the thing here....looking at the pipeline is no reason to throw away players....the only thing here that matters is if both are going to sign Kings friendly packages...I don't foresee DL making a vet walk due to "pipeline"...has to be a proven thing...

really? one of if not the best defensive centers in the league...not getting a raise......wow that would make news

edit: just imagine a full season and a half with gaborik as his winger...point production should...will be way up...cant see him signing the same deal unless its frontloaded and till 2027

I'm a bit worried about Williams. While I feel fairly confident he'll be re-signed, the Kings are pretty crowded on the right side with Brown, Toffoli, and Williams all at their best in "Top 6"... and I'd argue that if Richards gets going again, he or Carter could be on the RW of a line they were paired together on, as has been standard over the last few years. I really hope that Williams isn't the casualty of Brown and Richards' long term deals.

I believe it is extremely wishful thinking to expect him not to get a raise.

    Malkin 9.5
    Crosby 8.7
    Giroux 8.275
    Staal 8.25
    Getzlaf 8.25

Paul Stastny just signed for 7/per. Toews will reportedly be asking for 10+.

Kopitar should absolutely get something in the 8.0-8.5/per range.
