Are the Kings planning a Draft viewing party this year? Or I am stuck sitting in my living room watching by myself?

Why aren't you at this Kings NHL Awards Show party?

    Damn, this is fun.

I would like to see a little bit of variety, myself. While you can certainly teach a player to skate better and skate faster, I would like to have some players in the system who are already used to carrying the puck at high end speeds and be creative. It's one of my major draws to Scherbak and Milano.

To show the philosophy from the opposite perspective, it's similar to wanting the Kings to draft a bunch of soft but highly skilled players. If they learn to play tough, sure, they can become great, but if you have a bunch of high octane players learning to be tougher, you get the Edmonton Oilers.

I'm big on variety (just don't tell my wife that, nyuk nyuk).

I'm pretty sure if nothing's been announced yet, you better buy yourself some chips and a couple draft guides to entertain yourself.

Yeah, they can hold off on the Draft Party's for as long as we keep having parades.

Best chance at it is if Bailey hosts something at Hooters, but I doubt it.
King'sPawn and King Ludwig like this.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

This completely off topic but the story is fascinating.

    Draft 3.0 «

In May, Sacramento Kings GM Pete D’Alessandro made a staggering announcement: The team would crowdsource the amateur NBA analytics community — a collection of often brilliant but inexperienced minds — to determine whether to trade the eighth pick in the draft and, if the Kings keep their pick, whom to select.
I wonder if we'll ever see an NHL GM take this approach to drafting.

    http://mayorsmanor.com/2014/06/kings...er-head-coach/

This article is mostly about a new coach for the farm team, but it contains this tidbit:

"GM Dean Lombardi and his top lieutenants have assembled in Philadelphia today for their pre-draft work. Although their final player rankings were due to the NHL back around May 1, the team’s army of scouts have continued to pour over tape ..."

Is there someone familiar with the draft process that can make sense of this?

It probably means they put together their final draft list around May 1

Yes, but why turn it in to the NHL?
