I don't have NHL Network, so switched to the NBC Sports App. IT CUT AWAY TO 4 MINUTES OF COMMERCIALS RIGHT BEFORE THE KINGS PICK.

“@Rich_Hammond: Mark Yannetti said Kings made 4 or 5 inquiries to try to move up from No. 29. Said they didn't come close.”

I got the Kings Master plan. Trade Kempe to the Ducks for Kessler and their 1st next year and the Kings throw a bag of pucks into the deal.

You should really go and watch KV's vids on the Kings' scouting personnel. I found them to be interesting in that the Quebec scout, Denis Fugere mentioned how the kids' attitude about being in the NHL has changed from that of it being an honor to thinking they're entitled to it. Futa was also interviewed and mentioned about moving up and others calling for their pick. Very interesting watching these vids.

Although we tried, it was never even close. It wasnít a hang up, but there was no interest and not even any room to negotiate. We actively tried to move up, and it was a dead in the water issue. As the draft unfolded from around the midpoint of the first round, it fell the way we thought it would fall.
This implies the Kings wanted to move up quite far, into the top half of the draft. Sliding player? Was it Nick Ritchie they wanted? Dylan Larkin?

So we were fully prepared to move out. We had a flurry of offers, and we were perfectly poised to move out of that pick. We had three excellent offers that all had merit, and we had ranked them. We were ready to move out of that spot, and we had the ammunition to do it and move picks. As it stood, at 25 we knew we were going to get one of the two guys we wanted because he was still left, so that scenario was plausible for about five or six picks, and then our fears were allayed and we decided to keep the puck, and we didnít need to move back.
Does this imply they liked Pastrnak or McCann? Really curious who the other 2 guys were aside from Kempe.
