The baseline for Bernier is a 2nd round pick. Lombardi will want more, and anything more than that is a bonus.

Secondly I would move Bernier for Iginla straight up.
Jaybo (Calgary eats half the salary for 2 years left on the deal) and a 2nd for Bernier and some prospects not named Forbort, Pearson, or Toffoli.

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I think I'd like to see a high draft pick and an older, serviceable backup goalie in return. You know, someone like Luongo.

Right now, I'd rather take a defenseman

I would love to get Giordano from Calgary. Don't think they would want to move him though...

How many times is Bernier going to look like an average goalie. He has had his opportunities to shine.....and he hasn't. I have often said that he is one of the best trained goalies I have ever seen. My kid has played at high levels and worked with some of the worlds best goalie coaches. Bernier is the example of technically what to do. Quick is the example of technically what not to do, kind of like Hasek. Its funny how it works out. I guess technique doesn't cut it in the NHL. I am not comforable watching Bernier backstop this team. With the commitment to Quick, its time to let Bernier go. I do like Dean's holding out though to make another team pay dearly. Just don't know how long he can keep that up.

Giordano would be better, but the Kings would have to add.

How does one 'pick up his game' if he never even gets a sniff of playing time other than in relief. Is my sarcasm button off?

Seriously. The team plays their worst defensive game in a long time, Bernier comes in relief after he hasn't played since Craig Button said something nice about the Kings, and he's someone supposed to save the day. I'll remind people again, the last time Bernier played back to back games in the NHL was during the week when Quick's kid was born. He played 3 games and people were ready to trade Quick. 4 goals allowed including one shutout. Remember how Grant Fuhr did when he only got the occasional start?

Yea lets trade him to the devils, I hear they acquired this stud of a Russian center...bernier for loktionov and a fifth.

I like Calgary or Toronto as trade partners, I'd kick the tires on jaybo or Giordano, maybe we can throw penner in their and get iginla too
