I wonder if a deal is close? Berube was just assigned to Manchester, meaning they have 3 goalies there now right? Not sure if anyone was injured or anything, but if not, is it possible they are just gearing up for a call up of Jones to the big club after Bernie is traded, or something?

Exactly. If we want any value from Bernier he needs to get into a some games and prove that he can make timely saves.

Desperate GM's only need to see 1 or 2 good showings from him and his value will be sky high.

When exactly did he get his chance? He hasn't played back to back games in almost 3 years and has played 1 have since last March. The kings ruined his value by not letting him play. If he played regularly like Schneider in Vancouver he would be way more valuable.

QUOTE=SnoochieBoochie;2636055]How many times is Bernier going to look like an average goalie. He has had his opportunities to shine.....and he hasn't. I have often said that he is one of the best trained goalies I have ever seen. My kid has played at high levels and worked with some of the worlds best goalie coaches. Bernier is the example of technically what to do. Quick is the example of technically what not to do, kind of like Hasek. Its funny how it works out. I guess technique doesn't cut it in the NHL. I am not comforable watching Bernier backstop this team. With the commitment to Quick, its time to let Bernier go. I do like Dean's holding out though to make another team pay dearly. Just don't know how long he can keep that up.[/QUOTE]

Gibson was transferred to Manchester yesterday from the Reign yesterday. I wondered why the move right now. I don't know enough about those teams to know if it was a normal move. Cuz first thing I wondered was if we were getting ready to bring him up.

You think he gets shipped off this season so he can get more playing time elsewhere?
Maybe we can get a 5th rounder from some sucker...

If he's moved, I hope there's a solid veteran back-up coming the other way. Or coming from somewhere else soon afterward.

if really pisses me off to no end - every time i read that so and so's value is "ruined" or "diminished" or whatever.

for the umpteenth time, THAT ISN'T THE WAY IT WORKS!

teams have scouts, morons, and given the zeitgeist, i'm fairly confident those teams are sophisticated enough to have incorporated video by now. Bernier is a known commodity, and his 'value' has long been determined according the layer he currently falls in. that 'value' is not set at 1, and differs slightly at different points of the calendar year. in other words, what a team may be willing to pay for him at the trade deadline is likely to be FAR different than what they're willing to pay for him in the off-season, etc. etc.

Lombardi's timing is what will eventually maximize the return.

I think he doesn't get traded unless:

    1. Lombardi is confident that the above happens. I just don't see him throwing a kid from Manchester in as a backup.
    2. Someone is desperate and overpays.

ok I am starting a rumor right now...

    Bernier to Calgary
Boumeester from Calgary (with calgary taking 2M of the cap hit, maybe throw in a 4th if they take 3M in cap).

Greene wont be back for much of the season and who knows about Mitchell. I am starting to worry about a Muzz DD2 pairing. We are only one board away from a real disaster.
