Not sure Feaster would trade Iggy straight up for Bernier. I think kings would have to throw in a pick but what a piece to add.

Yes part of the new CBA, and would make a buyout easier.

Boumeester from Calgary (with calgary taking 2M of the cap hit, maybe throw in a 4th if they take 3M in cap).

Greene wont be back for much of the season and who knows about Mitchell. I am starting to worry about a Muzz DD2 pairing. We are only one board away from a real disaster.
Bouwmeester isn't close to being the type of player who replaces either of those two. He is as soft as they come, has never played a single playoff game and probably never will. He may have skill but he has no grit and questionable hockey sense. This guy screams of a guy who will never win anything.

teams have scouts, morons, and given the zeitgeist, i'm fairly confident those teams are sophisticated enough to have incorporated video by now. Bernier is a known commodity, and his 'value' has long been determined according the layer he currently falls in. that 'value' is not set at 1, and differs slightly at different points of the calendar year. in other words, what a team may be willing to pay for him at the trade deadline is likely to be FAR different than what they're willing to pay for him in the off-season, etc. etc.

Lombardi's timing is what will eventually maximize the return.
Let's put it this way, the only way his value will be affected by playing time is if JQ goes down and Bernier gets significant playing time and either plays really well or sucks hard. Otherwise, there's no way he'll get enough playing time to have a big impact on his value, which I assume at this point is going to be something less than a 1st round pick (maybe a journeyman backup and a 3rd or a 4th or a SAH d-man). Of course, I suppose this all depends on how desperately some GM wants to pay for a young guy with a potentially big upside.

He is softer than you would like a 6'4 220 pound guy to be and I would prefer a right hand shot, but Calgary is about to go through a rebuild and if they take some of the cap space, for what is out there, I would do it.

Besides we are asking him to play 4th or 5th Dman minutes not be a top pairing guy.

My guess is that Lombardi is more likely looking for a long-term left shooting stay at homer to pair with Doughty - preferably one with size and more puck skill than Scuderi

That fits the Jaybo model, although he is a softie. The hope would be that Sutter could squeak a little more mean streak out of him.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

    Since when is JayBo a stay-at-home D-man?
