It's not just about how many names would fit:
    From Hammond:
Then there’s Andrei Loktionov, who did not automatically qualify to have his name on the Cup. The Kings did not petition the league to have him included on their list, apparently because they knew his chances were quite slim. Personally, I would have tried to petition for him, but it’s true that his chances wouldn’t have been good.

if Lokti made as much differences as Lewis did during the playoffs, then it would be a real damn shame.

I'm more bummed they left my name off. I watched at least 70 games this season as well as 18 (I was on a cruise for game 1 and 2 of the Canucks series) of the playoff games. Pretty sure I should have qualified.

I believe Leiweke said at the rally that the fans were "all Stanley Cup Champions". Well Tim, where's my day with the Cup?

If she was a big hockey fan, she'd know it's wrong to have her name on the cup over a player.

If my spouse decided to drop a few hundred million bucks on a hockey team I would expect my name on a trophy as well.

If I had a chance to have my name on the Cup, I'd say "Andrei who?" too.

For what it's worth, Wikipedia describes her as a "minority owner." I don't know if she has an ownership interest separate and apart from Phil's interest, but having the owner's wife's name on the Cup isn't exactly new. Marian Ilitch has her name on the Cup for all four of the Red Wings' recent Cup wins. Margaret Jacobs and Susan Samueli are also on there.

Plus, there's no guarantee that had they not put Nancy's name there, that Loktionov would have gotten on. If they had an extra spot and did petition for him to get on, he still didn't meet the requirements of at least 41 regular season games or 1 Finals game. Neither did Westgarth or Drewiske but they're viewed differently since they were on the roster the entire year.

Kings management valued Drewiske and Westgarth being petitioned over Lokti, that's the bottom line. I wonder if they asked team leaders about their thoughts on it too. I bet if they did, they would've chosen DD44 and Westy over Lokti as well. The Kings have more player names on the Cup than both Boston and Chicago, it was probably pushing their luck to try and get a 25th name on there. It's a bummer for Lotki, for sure. But the dude got a day with the Cup. Nobody's gonna know his name isn't on it but him and fanatics like us anyway.
