Default Adding Kurtis Foster for a little depth?

Per TFP, they're saying we're in on him:

The Fourth Period :: NHL Free Agents :: Top 10 Unrestricted Free Agents, Post-Lockout Edition

One year deal around his usual salary Structure of $1.2M to $1.8M ?

I'd think he'd be a fabulous addition to take some minutes away from Martinez/Scuds/Mitchell/Greener this season when the bumps and bruises start up.

He'd be a hell of an upgrade to Dreweiske.

at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I'd rather have Drewiske. Foster is terrible.

Drewiske didn't hit the ice much last season himself.

When will someone like Andrew Campbell be ready to fill this role?

Hasn't Muzzin been an option in this role?

Hickey might be in line for a call-up if necessary. When is he required to be put on waivers?

The problem with having a guy like Foster on the roster means he, like Drewiske, can't be sent up/down to Manchester. When your full orster is available, you're setting yourself up to possibly lose a guy. Now, whether or not you care if you lose that guy is anther matter.

Drewiski did score goals when he was in the lineup.

he was absolutely terrific at critical times last season, part and parcel to their rationale that it was time to let "Harry" go. personally i would have LOVED to have seen this team with Kevin Dallman in that role - i was more partial to him than "he can play anywhere, Petey" as it was.

anyway, Drewiske... he had a really long stretch of risky play for, what i thought was 'long enough' for them to have assessed his role, and i was one who really wanted to see that spot go to either Hickey, Muzzin or Campbell at the start of last season. he took a HUGE step, and stepped up... there were a couple of instances of that "risky play" along the way, but they were much MUCH better timed, and were positive most of the time... and the ones that didn't work out weren't disasters due to also much improving on his read/reaction time and recovery speed.

i'm perfectly fine with him at 7 if he continues to be committed to rounding out his overall game.

In 2010-2011 when he played a few games up with the big club.....I was not impressed at all, he looked out of place and timid to me.

But who knows, maybe another year in Manchester toughened him up quite a bit?
