In addition to the better than 20% shooting stats, Toffoli is also averaging 2.5+ shots per game. The kid is definitely staking his claim on a permanent roster spot.

Even the Rangers on Sunday are only just now up to .500.

The real test of these guys isn't after this road trip. Its how do they perform and hold up over the grind of 20 to 30 games, then you'll know what you have. How do they hold up through a stretch of 5 of 8 through our Division, with the other 3 games against the Hawks, Blues, and Stars?

As for those that want barn burner/Xbox hockey instead of the dump/chase/grind it out style we currently employ, remember that's what won us a championship, and in getting it we completely steam rolled everybody. I'd prefer we stuck to that than trying to outscoring teams every night but giving up 3 or 4 goals. Don't get me wrong, I immensely enjoyed the Gretzky years, but we felt short of long playoff stretches way too many times.
    ^^^^^^^ This.

This weekend's games showed how the Kings style is dominant. 2-0 and 1-0 shutouts. We barely gave the opposition anything and made their lives miserable. The Kings killed off back to back 5 on 3's. Stoll and Kopitar dominated in the faceoff circle tonight as well.

Toffoli has a permanent spot in LA. He got that the day Ellerby was lost on waivers. Vey and Pearson are getting seasoning. We'll see how they play over the next couple of weeks but I don't see any urgent need to trade anyone off the roster to make room for the kids. Let them sustain their play over a couple of months, especially against some quality Western teams.

And I totally agree on our style vs Xbox hockey. I am very content with Sutter hockey (Cup and WCF) and the Ducks can have Boudreau hockey (great season, then playoff flameout).

You can bet your bottom dollar that the way Tyler Toffoli been playing since being called-up to the Kings makes M. Frattin possibly go on waivers. This teams needs players that are going to put the work on in and T. Toffoli is doing just that.

I dont see how Toffoli would go back down, but given the experience of Fraser/Lewis, I dont see a spot for Vey this year. Depending on how Pearson plays while he's up, maybe he could replace Frattin?? Doubt it though.
