I think I it would be fitting to never wear the current alternate jersey ever again. That jersey should be the last punctuation mark of a long chapter in Kings history.
Let them design a new alternate jersey and make some money.

Last season they used the Black Crown jersey for what, 8 home games? I figured it would make an appearance at least a couple of times this season. They haven't blown out that jersey, it's still going for $159.99 at the Kings online store.
But the white crown, yes, they have blown out and gotten rid of completely.
The Kings haven't made any announcement regarding the 3rd jerseys (crown black jersey with purple shoulders) that I know of. But yeah, only two Legends Night scheduled, so those will have the vintage purple jerseys for sure.
As for other teams, a quick example would be the Ducks. They are wearing the alternates in 9 of their 24 home games. The Avs are doing in 7 of their 24 home games. Not sure what the limit is, regarding alternate jerseys in the lockout shortened season.
NHLUniforms still has it listed as a current 3rd but that site also isn't official.

During the summer sale those old home jerseys were $50 bucks with the SCF patch applied. Haven't seen too many in the actual store this season but the store is a wreck early this season. NHL usually frowns upon jerseys changes. Only certain times do you see actual teams get to wear more than 3 jerseys and usually it's all limited. Usual rules for a full season seemed to be 15 games, but the Wild used their thirds in 16 games last season. This year it seems that teams are allowed to use their thirds 9 times. Plus all jersey changes have to be planned at least one season in advanced and any "third"(Which doesn't include specialty jerseys like Winter Classic...) has to be used for at least two seasons before it can be taken out of the rotation.
