Phil aka Rental Man went to my jr. high, and high school. He has a twin brother (Eric), word has it, their mom did a ton of drugs during her pregnancy, no joke. The two brothers had a tough time as you might imagine growing up, I remember seeing the "cool" kids and jocks ridicule them over the years. They used to live in Seal Beach (I believe they still do), and Phil (Rental Man) would often be seen on the corner of PCH & Westminister posing/flexing shirtless, while handing out photograph headshots to anyone willing to accept one. He even had some pretty sweet business cards. For as long as I can remember, Phil (Rental Man) has been wanting to make it to Hollywood, it seems like he has found his calling, and this is as close as he will get. Eric on the other hand, has not been industrious as his brother, and can often be seen sitting at bus stops on PCH in Seal Beach having conversations with himself. They both were brought into this world in a pretty effed up manner, so as annoying as Rental Man may be to some, I think it is pretty cool to see how far Phil has come, and how hard he has worked to pursue his dream of being in the spotlight.
From time to time I'll take the 55s to Newport Blvd to PCH on my way home from work, I'll see Phil out in front of Westside Rentals doing his thing and throwing shakas at all of the traffic as it passes by. So if you ever see him out there, throw him a shaka, and feed his stoke.
Oh yeah, I thought that video was pretty cool, it brought back a lot of emotions I felt that afternoon/evening.
