I thought AEG was the entity that is considering the NFL. If that is the case then AEG would be selling the Kings off (due to NFL rules). This story is saying AEG itself is being sold. That sis an entirely different situation.

According to this, the NFL stadium shouldn't be affected.
AEG, owner of LA Kings, Staples Center up for sale
I say Uncle Phil changes his mind by Christmas.
Other than the fact that it was AEG that was taking the lead on this i would agree with you. AEG is the division that handles Sports Arenas\Teams, Convention Centers and that sort of stuff. Seems a bit odd to sell your division that would have everything to do with the thing you are trying to build.
True, that is a worry. But if the new owner(s) keep most things, it will help to offset the fact the Kings are one of the 18 teams to lose money last year. If they break it up piecemeal then for the Kings to remain competitive the new owner would need to be able to make a nice profit if spending near the cap. That wouldn't happen under the old CBA.
My guess for a potential buyer is:
David Murdock... Chairman/Owner of Dole Foods...
Owns Castle & Cooke.... developed Lake Sherwood Country Club and surrounding properties.. owner of vast real estate holdings in Calif & Arizona..
He just recently sold:
the Island of Lanai...
Dole Foods-Asia
