LA Times is saying the sale would be around double what the Dodgers sold for. I find that low but what do I know. 4 billion for ALL of AEG seems like underpayment.

Regg, I heard there's a buyer in Florida who wants us to play in a retirement community. You know, all these retired Canadiens miss their hockey...
Or more seriously, the Kings just won the cup and that would put the value of AEG at the highest it will get, especially during this time and in the current economic hell California is experiencing.
At first I was like, "what?" then I thought, "eh." I mean it's not like the Kings will pack up and move suddenly. I can't imagine the NHL would allow that...and as for the other stuff, I still like the Lakers and Galaxy regardless of who owns them. In a sense, I was kind of nervous and worried, till I realized that it really doesn't affect me.
It has been my theory since yesterday that AEG will sell all the assets BUT maintain the management of the arena they currently manage. They will sell the team but manage all the facilities and concessions for whoever owns the teams/arenas.
A win-win for them, they get guaranteed money and have none of the risk.
Has anyone published a list of what exactly is held by AEG? I thought it was a pretty significant list including their service contracts on real estate.
I posted two looks earlier to their wikipedia page and the AEG website. There are over 100 stadiums and arenas, 15 convention centers or so, music and theater promotion companies including goldenvoice (Coachella and stage coach, etc) a large number of theaters and music venues, sport teams world wide, etc etc.
I think that just their stakes in southern California sports teams is worth approx 500 million. Plus AEG holds the right of first refusal to buy the Lakers from the buss family, and that has to be worth something too.

I read through the wikipedia page, was a little unimpressed as it listed them owning 50% of the kings. I was hoping forbes or wsj had put out a more exhaustive list. Hard to separate
what AEG owns vs manages and the real estate that is held by other Anschutz companies. In general it's hard to tell what kind of buyer would be most interested.
It seems like Patrick Soon-Shiong is the early front runner to buy AEG. I don't know much about the guy other than he's the richest man in LA and has a burning desire to own Los Angeles sports teams. I'm hoping this means he's more of a fan. While i think Anschutz has been a fine owner for the Kings it would be nice to have an owner who showed up to games a little more often and actively rooted for the team.
