Makes more sense if you ask me...detroit being in the west didnt make sense anymore

The playoff format as detailed in the league memo Tuesday calls for the top three teams in each division to earn postseason berths. The remaining four spots would go to wild cards, the top two records in each conference. That means there's a possibility five teams make it from one division and only three from another.

Normally, when you re-align things, you straighten them out, not **** them up.

This "wild card" **** is lame.

So the previous realignment sucked because it was 7, 7, 8, and 8 team divisions. The league geniuses moved Detroit and Cowlumbus to the east. So now the new realignment is 8, 8, 7, and 7. Isn't that just the same thing but with 2 teams flipped into the other conference? And the wild card is crappier than what we have now. Wow, one division could have 5 teams and the other 3... Right now, one could have 5 of 5 while another only has a single team.

There are still the generic conference names. The new playoff format means teams can milk the playoffs to have Central and Pacific division champions. And that will be cool until the wild card Kings sport a Mid-West banner. I'm baffled that the league has all this time to take another look at realignment and they trot out nearly the same thing as before but with 2 teams moved to the east ledger.

Just flip Winnipeg and Columbus. More realignment needs to happen anyhow when Phoenix moves.
