I remember doing the math on this last year... In 2011-12, all but eight teams had at least one empty-net-game-tying goal. In 2010-11, six of those eight teams had one.
The two that hadn't had one since 2009-10 were St. Louis and your Los Angeles Kings. When we met in the playoffs, only the first 58 minutes counted; there weren't going to be any late comebacks there!
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.
